Our client is a leading supplier of Offsite M&E fabrication solutions to the Data Centre industry throughout the UK, Ireland and Mainland Europe.
They are a specialist building services contractor that carries out design, manufacture and installation of new build and retrofit decarbonization and renewable energy projects as well as modular mechanical & electrical prefabricated products.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the estimation team for data centre projects.
Duties include:
* Develop and lead the estimation team for the data centre business.
* Be the go-to person for all things estimating within the department and take ownership of department priorities and resourcing.
* Direct and assist estimating team in their day-to-day activities.
* Evaluate and risk review tender opportunities to assess viability of client requests.
* Establish estimation processes and systems to streamline and improve our day-day department operations.
* Grow the existing team into a dedicated data centre commercial resource within the organisation.
* Lead weekly meetings to coordinate resources, report on status updates, identify resourcing bottlenecks and any other risks/opportunities required to ensure the efficient operation of the department.
* Early client engagement to review scope and then prepare, issue and follow through to negotiation stage of AH bids alongside the senior team.
* Review schematics & designs to identify the scope and develop a strategy/approach for how the job will be estimated.
* Carry out detailed take offs from schematics & 3-D designs. Collate into material & labour quantities and apply rates to develop overall project costs.
* Ability to learn, operate and manage existing Ensign estimating software package to ensure accurate costs are prepared for all new projects.
* Analysis and estimation of value engineering opportunities to ensure bids are competitive.
* Lead preparation of handover pack & attend internal post award meetings for successful projects to discuss & review breakdown of estimate with delivery team.
* Lead the handover process from estimation to operations post project award ensuring accurate and detailed project summaries are delivered.
* Be the go-to person within estimating for reviewing and understanding job performance reports (CVR's) for ongoing and completed works to ensure continuous improvement of departmental rates and job costing assumptions.
* Lead on the review and understanding of job performance challenges by liaising with Commercial & Contracts teams to ensure team of estimators are always pricing works in line with how they are being delivered at site.
Requirements:
Commercially astute and ambitious.
High standard of organisational and time management skills.
Sound knowledge of general construction methods.
Working knowledge of labour, plant, materials and equipment rates.
High level of IT literacy, especially in Microsoft Packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
Excellent attention to detail.
Good communication skills.
Management experience.
EU passport or Stamp 4 visa required.
