Activity Leader for groups aged 12-17 years with some groups being 18+. Leading activities set out by the company, ensuring safety of students and confidence of the group while here with us. Some examples of activities are scavenger hunts, Athlone Castle visit, preparation for Irish Dancing, preparation for GAA sports, creative writing, arts & crafts, full-day excursions.
We need someone who is confident working with a group of up to 25 persons and can maintain a functioning and fully thriving environment. This person should be excellent at working with young learners, possess problem-solving skills, and have a positive attitude. In addition, being highly organized and well-prepared for work is essential.
Responsibilities:
* Be prepared & lead Activities:
* Ensure all materials and plans for the activity are prepared and ready for implementation.
* Coordinate logistics for activities, including confirming transportation and venue bookings, and ensuring necessary equipment or materials are set aside.
* Supervision & Safety:
* Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during activities, maintaining awareness of their location and behavior.
* Ensure adherence to conduct guidelines and health & safety procedures.
* Conduct risk assessments for all planned activities and excursions, ensuring appropriate safety measures are in place.
* Group Management:
* Lead and manage groups of up to 24 students during activities, ensuring that everyone is involved and engaged.
* Address any behavioral issues promptly and effectively, maintaining a positive and respectful environment.
* Cultural Education & Integration:
* Introduce students to Irish culture, history, and traditions through interactive activities and discussions.
* Encourage interaction with local communities and participation in cultural experiences.
* Communication & Language Support:
* Ensure you have the group leaders’ contact information and keep them updated on planned activities.
* Facilitate clear communication between students, providing language support as needed.
* Encourage students to use English in a fun and supportive environment.
* Team Collaboration:
* Work closely with other staff members to ensure a cohesive experience for students.
* Participate in regular team meetings to discuss activity plans and share feedback.
* Emergency Preparedness:
* Be prepared to handle emergencies, such as injuries or missing participants, following established procedures.
* Maintain a list of emergency contacts and first-aid supplies.
* Monitoring & Reporting:
* Keep detailed records of attendance and any incidents during activities.
* Provide a report with feedback and suggestions for improving activities to program coordinators.
