Role Title:Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON): Integrated Care (Will include Medical Ambulatory Care services and the associated inpatient wards) Job Reference Number:001032 Closing Date:Sunday, 2nd March 2025 Purpose of the Role: The post holder is primarily responsible for the provision of a high quality and safe nursing service within the Directorate.
This post holder leads and has operational responsibility for Integrated Care which includes Medical Ambulatory Care services and related inpatient wards.
This individual will provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership and direction for nursing within the areas of responsibility, which results in key performance indicators in the delivery of effective, efficient, quality assured, and patient centred nursing care.
The post holder will provide professional leadership to nursing staff at all levels, fostering an enthusiastic, empowering, and committed work environment.
They will support professional development, contribute to the development and implementation of nursing policies and strategies, and ensure the achievement of objectives.
Additionally, they will proactively develop nursing roles in alignment with patient needs and healthcare strategy The post holder will operationalise the core values of nursing by ensuring the patient experience in wards, departments, and units is of the highest possible standard at all times.
This will be achieved with a particular emphasis on care, compassion, teamwork, professionalism, and empathy, as detailed in the Professional Practice Model (2024).
The post holder will work in partnership with the Clinical Director, Operations Manager, and ADON colleagues to develop the strategic direction of nursing services.
They will ensure the service significantly contributes to the achievement of corporate objectives and effective governance arrangements are implemented and maintained.
Required: Registered General Nurse with The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
7 years post-registration experience in the acute hospital setting within the last 9 years.
Minimum of 4 years management experience at CNM II level or above within the last 7 years.
Postgraduate qualification (level 8 or higher on the National Framework of Qualifications - NFQ) in the area of Healthcare or Management related area.
Completed or to be undertaking a Masters Degree (or higher) in the area of Healthcare or Management related area.
The Masters programme must be at Level 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications - NFQ, or equivalent.
Demonstrate I.T.
skills including excellent keyboard skills.
Demonstrate experience in personal and professional development of staff.
Demonstrate knowledge and experience in leading on and managing risk management, safety and quality projects and metrics.
Demonstrate experience in leading on service development and change management projects in line with the strategic objectives of the organisation/Region.
Desired: Possess a qualification in Operational Excellence.
Certificate in principles of Integrated Care.
Experience in establishing integrated advanced practice posts.
Experience in nursing/MDT research and audit in line with local and national strategies.
