Job Title: MRI Safety Officer - CS Radiographer/Deputy CS Radiographer
Department: Radiology
Reports to: Head of Radiology Operations

* Lead, guide and supervise radiographers and other staff, and implement MRI safety procedures.
* Work closely with MRI CSR's, MR Radiographers, and Medical Physics to develop, document, and introduce safe working procedures for the MR environment.
* Ensure that proper policies and procedures for day-to-day MR safety are fully implemented.
* Ensure that adequate written safety policies, protocols, procedures, and guidelines are developed and maintained.
* Educate medical, nursing, and all other relevant staff groups on safety requirements.
* Maintain records of personnel educated on safety requirements.
* Be accountable for the quality of the service provided including customer service and technical aspects.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of clinical technical and radiographic developments in relation to MRI.
* Ensure that best practices are implemented and maintained.
* Contribute to the preparation of service plans - monitor and report on their implementation.
* Implement and maintain accurate information systems for clinical data.
* Implement and maintain a comprehensive quality assurance programme within the MRI department.
* Maintain accurate records for patient examinations.
* Order and maintain appropriate stock levels.
* Schedule urgent patient examinations and liaise with multidisciplinary teams.
* Ensure all staff entering or working in the rooms have appropriate training in MRI Safety.
* Advise on equipment selection, purchase, replacement or upgrading.
* Maintain accurate record of equipment service, maintenance, malfunction, and performance.
* Participate in Clinical Audits as relevant to the post.
* Promote and maintain a safe environment for staff and patients.
* Assist in the development of Risk Management and Health and Safety strategies.
* Liaise with the Head of Radiology Operations on staff training.
* Supervise and assess all training.
* Maintain awareness of the primacy of the patient in relation to all Hospital activities.
* Assist in leading the professional organization and management of the MRI department.
* Support the Head of Radiology Operations in leadership within the Radiology Department.
* Participate in continuing education and research activities consistent with the position.
* Participate in other duties within the radiology as required by the Head of Radiology Operations.
Person Specification:
Qualifications:
* Qualification must be recognised and validated by CORU.
Experience:
* Minimum of 6 years working in MRI and a post-graduate course in MRI.
* Additional MRI safety course is desirable.
