Role/Department: Northern Trust seeks a Cybersecurity Technical Writer to plan, develop and create communication materials for the Cybersecurity Strategic Program Delivery group, utilizing a variety of communication vehicles to publish content.
Establish priorities, work independently, exercise independent judgment and proceed with objectives without supervision.
The role will require collaboration with Project Managers, Managers and Senior Leadership within Cybersecurity Strategic Program Delivery and across all Cybersecurity "Towers".
This role reports directly to the Governance & Reporting Director in the Cybersecurity Strategic Program Delivery group.
The key responsibilities of the role include: Participates in the planning, development, coordination, and monitoring of internal communication programs that project the desired image for the Cybersecurity Strategic Program Delivery group and all Cybersecurity "Towers".
Prepares and presents communication material to partners and senior management.
Provides input on communication messages, marketing direction and creative execution.
Counsels partners on strategies and programs to meet departmental objectives.
Consults with user areas to identify and analyze needs.
Determines and creates appropriate communications materials to meet needs.
Responsible for coordinating multiple communication projects.
Assist with setting project objectives, determines priorities and timeframes, identifies and resolves problems, and monitors the budget.
Partner with Organizational Change Management (OCM) at the Technology and Enterprise level when required to ensure change related communication material are consistent with the desired image of the Cybersecurity Strategic Program Delivery group and all Cybersecurity "Towers".
Interacts with all levels in the organization to produce desired materials.
Key deliverables include, but is not limited to, presentation materials for Cyber Strategic Programs to the following bodies: Global CIO and directs (monthly)CEO and directs (monthly)Northern Trust Board (ad hoc as needed)Reporting tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or similar data reporting and analytics tools.
Skills / Qualifications The successful candidate will benefit from having: A successful candidate for the role will have at least 10 or more years of communication or related experience.
Additionally, the candidate will possess: Has experience in gathering information and writing documentation.
The candidate should have technical writing experience in : user manuals, documenting systems or programs, training manuals, operational run books, installation guides, methods and procedures manuals, and presentations about technical subject matter.
Experience in Cybersecurity, Regulatory, or Audit-related projects with requisite understanding of terminology, expectations, and sensitivity of information.
Superior Communication skills - able to articulate ideas and information verbally and in writing for varying audiences Initiative – takes initiative at suggesting improvements and anticipates the needs of leadership, program stakeholders and team members Organizational Skills – able to handle multiple simultaneous work deliverables and prioritize them accordingly Delivery Mindset – carries a delivery mindset with a bias for action, curiosity to learn, challenge, and enhance processes.
Expert Analytical Skills – able to assemble data and analyze patterns, trends and draw conclusions and recommendations; rely on data to guide decisions.
Knowledge of global financial institutions with complex organizational structures and regulatory requirements.
Microsoft skills are needed to create communication materials.
Writing, presentation, and organizational skills are needed to write, develop and, present materials.
Proficiency with:Collaboration tools such as: Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Teams, MiroReporting tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or similar data reporting and analytics tools.
