Caretaker Job Description
This is a full-time, permanent position responsible for providing an effective liaison between the employer and tenants, maintaining the development, and ensuring correct tenant-like use and occupation of buildings and grounds.
1. Caretaking & Security:
* Inspect daily health and safety equipment and grounds of all relevant buildings.
* Complete monthly online inspection forms for the development.
* Report any repairs or defects to the Association.
* Supervise security and proper use of the building and its facilities.
* Maintain clean external parts, including bin sheds, communal grounds, car parks, and remove rubbish from development as required.
* Supervise Tuath contractors and facilitate access as needed.
* Perform light ground maintenance, including litter picking, leaf collection, tending flower beds, etc.
* Assist with mail and leaflet delivery.
* Carry out minor repairs, such as repairing locks, replacing light bulbs, painting, carpentry work, etc.
* Conduct daily health and safety checks on the rooftop garden and outdoor spaces.
* Be responsible for opening/closing the rooftop garden.
* Attend after-hours emergencies if requested by the Housing Services Manager.
2. Tenant Care:
* Communicate and liaise with tenants to assist in housing management services, attending meetings as required.
* Facilitate meter readings as requested.
* Report any breaches of house rules, including anti-social behavior, satellite dishes, etc.
* Attend after-hours emergencies if requested by the Housing Services Manager.
* Assist with annual unit inspections.
* Support community engagement initiatives.
* Assist tenant engagement officers with duties as needed.
3. Health and Safety:
* Conduct activities safely, ensuring safety for yourself and others.
* Adhere to the Association's Health and Safety Policy.
* Maintain safety of the rooftop garden and outdoor spaces.
4. General:
* Participate in forums, working groups, committees as required.
* Contribute to delivering quality customer-oriented service through policy formulation, review, and implementation.
* Undertake occasional duties consistent with the post's responsibilities.
* Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
* Develop relationships with local Community Garda.
* Attend training relevant to the job description as needed.
* Aware of GDPR requirements for the post.
