Job Summary:
The Enterprise Architecture Senior Manager will be responsible for providing effective leadership to a team of Enterprise Architects and will be accountable for developing and maintaining the Technology Strategy that supports business objectives. They will work closely with all functions of the utility to oversee enterprise architecture development including strategy, innovation, and architecture in the realms of technology (IT and OT), data & information, digital & emerging technology applications & integration, infrastructure & cloud, and security in alignment with the needs of the wider organisation. The ideal candidate will report to the Head of Technology (CIO) and engage directly with the wider IT organisation and the business (supported by the IT Business Partners) to ensure alignment of IT enterprise architecture strategy, policies, procedures, and processes with organisational direction, as well as ensuring the needs of the business are represented by same.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide effective leadership to a motivated team of Enterprise Architects.
2. Fulfil the Lead Architect role in the Enterprise Architecture team with responsibility both as an enterprise architect practitioner and as methods champion.
3. Develop and oversee adherence to Enterprise Architecture principles that guide technology decisions for business.
4. Develop, communicate, and maintain a long-term vision for IT Enterprise Architecture and underpin the vision with EA strategies to deliver the same with support and collaboration from the business via IT Business Partners, ensuring the EA strategies meet the wider business needs.
5. Support the development of a cohesive roadmap for data management in the organisation, working with the business to create data.
6. Develop the business’s technology strategies and detailed sub-strategies to meet the future needs of the company, by seeking to maximise the benefits of data assets and technology-focused initiatives.
7. Keep abreast of emerging IT technologies with a view to aligning IT technology trends to the strategic requirements of the business and encouraging the adoption of IT best practice.
8. Review the utilisation and benefits of IT enterprise architecture investments and realise delivery of the same to support the corporate strategy and business plans.
9. Model the technical landscape to analyse the alignment of business capabilities with delivered technology and IT solutions.
10. Ensure IT capital programs stay aligned to the business’ technology strategy, detailed sub-strategies and EA roadmaps while optimising use of existing components and capabilities across the technology landscape.
11. Participate in the evaluation/selection of technology solutions, where required.
12. Build strong relationships with the various IT teams within the IT function with the aim of optimising cooperation, maximising efficiencies, and supporting initiatives.
13. Participation in Supplier Relationship Performance reviews, leading on discussions of strategic value and innovation perspectives in supplier performance evaluation, as well as supporting driving optimal value in supplier contractual negotiations.
14. Lead governance activities associated with ensuring overall EA compliance.
15. Define and execute the IT innovation processes through the EA team. Ensure the team has the tools and processes to foster and drive IT innovation efforts.
16. Drive a customer-first agenda across IT.
Requirements:
17. Formal certification and/or equivalent experience in architecture disciplines, processes, concepts, and best practices such as TOGAF, ITIL, ISO: 27000 and COBIT are desirable.
18. Relevant bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or other related field or equivalent work experience.
19. Seven + years’ relevant experience with a minimum of five years in an IT Architecture role in an environment similar in size and complexity to the business is desirable.
20. A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the utilities or similar industries is desirable and or relevant experience, along with 3+ years working at a senior manager level.
21. Excellent leadership and people skills are required, and a demonstrable ability to attract and develop a high-performing committed team.
22. You will have significant leadership and change & transformation experience ideally in a similar utility, regulated industry or multi-stakeholder environment.
23. Able to work to deadlines and adapt to changing conditions and ambiguity, generating effective and pragmatic solutions to
