The People Services & Technology team at Apple is currently looking for an expert data engineer / architect to support a growing geographic footprint with the products, tools, and infrastructure required to scale People technology analytics services globally. You will work with a regional people technology team delivering automation capability across a wide range of people-related products in the area of recruitment, candidate care, employee relations, people survey, talent planning, and a number of other strategic focus areas for the People Services & Technology organization. The People data engineer will play a pivotal role in the People Services & Technology team, working with data in the Apple enterprise data warehouse from multiple systems across the Apple HRIS landscape to develop powerful data models & tools which drive a positive employee experience across Apple.
Description
The role requires a technical expert in data engineering techniques including data modelling, data pipeline development, data transformation, and model performance optimisation leveraging a variety of different data analytics infrastructure technologies & tools. On a day-to-day basis, the right person for this role will be involved in the following tasks:
1. Developing application code across a range of people tools and analytics products.
2. Work independently to research technology areas and innovate to produce analytics products.
3. Translate high-level (often vague) requirements into a tangible prototype to drive discussion and further iterations to find the right solution.
4. Collaboration and partnership cross-functionally across engineering teams and business teams.
5. Manage new tasks coming to the team, quickly assess priority and take appropriate action.
6. Manage multiple priorities and set customer expectations appropriately.
7. Fostering a positive, humble, and open culture and consistently exhibit Apple values of inclusion, trust, and respect for others.
8. Mentor new members of the team on data architecture best practices, analytics product design, and software development techniques.
9. Partner with the People Services & Technology team to build out the team in India with the necessary data analytics infrastructure to enable scale for the future.
Minimum Qualifications
* SQL, NoSQL languages to query and manipulate large data sets.
* Snowflake or equivalent enterprise data warehouse technology.
* Relational database technologies such as Oracle, MySQL, and Postgres.
* Docker and/or Kubernetes and deployment to cloud-based environments such as AWS, Apple Cloud Infrastructure.
* Knowledge and experience integrating analytical products with third-party utilities using REST API and standard authentication protocols such as OIDC.
* Linux terminal shell operation and scripting.
Preferred Qualifications
* Analytical reporting tools such as Tableau.
* Data processing techniques using Python libraries such as Numpy & Pandas, as well as awareness of data science libraries for use in statistical analysis techniques.
* GitHub deployment, branching strategies, and CI/CD pipeline integration.
* Programming expertise in building multi-processing data transformation tools and applications.
* Third level master’s degree or bachelor’s degree in computer science, analytics, and/or data science is preferred from an education standpoint. In addition, the following key areas are a distinct benefit.
