DESCRIPTION
With a focus on reducing its environmental and social impact, GPG remains steadfast in its dedication to sustainability without compromising on quality. The Sustainability and Innovation executive will support the development and implementation of impactful sustainability and innovation initiatives, programs, and policies within GPG. This role focuses on operational support, research, project management, and stakeholder coordination to embed sustainability and innovation into GPG’s activities.
Reporting to the Head of Innovation & Sustainability, the Sustainability and Innovation executive will work collaboratively across teams to ensure effective implementation of ESG goals, sustainability initiatives, and innovation projects to contribute to our sustainability journey of a force for good.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Compliance and Reporting:
* Support the compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
* Responsible for the preparation of sustainability reports, including compliance with ESRS framework.
Implementation of Sustainability and ESG Initiatives
* Coordinate and oversee the implementation of sustainability programs, such as ISO standards and B-Corp initiatives, with a focus on social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
* Collaborate with various departments to integrate sustainable practices into business operations.
Research and Innovation
* Identify, recommend and lead improvement initiatives for the business based on gap analysis, opportunities and external sustainability benchmarking
* Conduct research on sustainability trends, compliance requirements, best practices, and emerging innovative technologies.
* Support the development and promotion of research-driven products and services for GPG
Data Collection and Analysis:
* Collect, analyse, and report on sustainability and innovation metrics to develop and adhere to key performance indicators (KPIs).
* Prepare sustainability and innovation reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
* Track emerging global environmental trends, regulations, and innovations to inform internal strategies.
Project management and Programme Support
* Assist in the management of sustainability projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and achievement of objectives.
* Provide logistical and administrative assistance for new pipelines and programmes, including stakeholder engagement and measurement planning.
* Help identify external partnerships and funding opportunities.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote sustainability initiatives (employees, community, and environment)
* Collaborate with suppliers and partners to ensure sustainable procurement practices.
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote innovative initiatives to contribute to GPG’s innovation pipeline.
Awareness and Training:
* Develop and deliver training programs to raise awareness about sustainability issues and practices within the organization.
* Develop and deliver training programs aimed at fostering awareness and encouraging innovative thinking.
* Organize events and campaigns to promote sustainability and innovative thinking.
General Administrative Support
* Provide interdepartmental support for the product development process.
* Organize meetings, prepare agendas, and document key action points for the Innovation and Community Committees.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
* Highly organised and detail-oriented, with a passion for innovation and sustainability.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging stakeholders.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Capable of working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams.
* Self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
* Strong knowledge of Innovation and ESG frameworks, sustainability concepts and regulations
* Strong project management and administrative skills
* Proficiency in IT systems, including MS Office and database tools.
* Excellent analytical skills for data interpretation and reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
* Degree in science, sustainability, or a related field preferred.
* Minimum 2 years+ experience in CSR, ESG sustainability or a similar role.
Location and Travel Expectations:
This full-time position is based at GPG Head Office in Celbridge, Co. Kildare, with the option to avail of remote working. Occasional travel may be required for conferences and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
