We are seeking a Health and Safety Officer to join our client, one of Ireland's leading civil and engineering companies.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations across their projects on-site in Dublin, Wexford, and Wicklow.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct site surveying and setting out activities.
* Provide health and safety training to employees, including manual handling, toolbox talks, and safety induction.
* Conduct safety inspections and audits.
* Develop and implement accident prevention strategies and maintain a positive approach to protecting the environment.
* Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to management.
* Implement the company's health, safety, and environmental policy, procedures, and management systems.
* Maintain Health & Safety KPIs to drive improvement in related matters.
* Support management in developing H&S procedures, policies, and programs.
* Work with the HSQE team to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
* Continuously improve Health & Safety standards within the company management system and on specific sites.
* Monitor and enforce the implementation of the Health & Safety Management System.
* Identify site-specific hazards and address them in site documentation and practice.
* Maintain clear communication lines with the H&S Manager.
* Maintain site folders and statutory records.
* Enforce strict adherence to site rules.
* Assist site management in complying with statutory H&S requirements.
* Develop and implement Risk assessments and improvements to Safe Systems of Work.
* Coordinate Safe Systems of Work with site management and contractors.
* Carry out H&S auditing on site and address non-conformances with site management and contractors.
* Contribute to accident and incident investigation.
Requirements:
* Hold a full clean driver's license.
* Have 2-3 years of experience in health and safety roles.
* Experience in Civils/Utilities, but not limited to Construction Build background is desirable.
* Possess a 3rd level qualification in Health and Safety, which is desirable.
* Civils, drainage, or utilities (water & electricity) background is desirable.
* Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines.
* Effective time management skills to meet targets.
* Good communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
* Integrity and respect for confidentiality and privacy.
* Able to build strong relationships with contractors from various backgrounds and trades.
