C&D Foods has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Stores & Purchasing Manager to join our team in Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford.
As the Engineering Stores and Purchasing Manager, you will support the effective operation of the Engineering department, managing budgeted spend and ordering of spare parts, goods, and services to minimize downtime while adhering to fiscal controls.
You will manage your workload to maintain accurate stock control, document filing, and data entry for all engineering parts and products. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will need to challenge suppliers, managers, and engineers on cost.
The Engineering Stores and Purchasing Manager will report directly to the Assistant Engineering Manager and will also receive direction from the Engineering Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the day-to-day management of the Engineering shift team, working closely with Operations and site management to ensure output targets are achieved.
* Ensure optimum performance of manufacturing plants and equipment at minimal cost to continuously improve factory efficiency.
* Lead the setting of engineering standards within the engineering stores function, providing leadership and expertise on improvement activities, standards, stock control, and budget management.
* Manage personal performance and development needs, effectively managing time to maximize effectiveness.
* Communicate effectively across all levels regarding stock availability, delivery dates, and expenditure.
* Be responsible for stock levels and critical spares, ensuring a maximum of 5% of total stock is on zero and 100% critical spares are in stock.
* Produce and justify a detailed weekly spending report for Senior Engineering management.
* Lead weekly stores and purchasing meetings with key engineering stakeholders, positively influencing the team as needed.
* Attend and participate in all relevant meetings.
* Ensure spend does not exceed agreed daily/weekly amounts without Engineering Manager approval.
* Manage all orders through Stores requisition forms and ensure no order is given without generating a Purchase order.
* Ensure all spend over €500 is agreed by Engineering Manager/Assistant Engineering Manager before providing a Purchase order.
* Update multimedia information daily and keep all parties informed of delivery dates/delays.
* Seek alternative suppliers to widen the supplier network and reduce costs of stock purchased.
* Control and manage Capex spend, ensuring all parties are aware of available funding.
* Conduct benchmarking activities routinely to ensure best value in routine purchases.
* Maintain excellent housekeeping standards across all engineering stores and Mezzanine area, complying with 5S and hygiene standards.
* Implement pest-proofing measures and ensure compliance with company policy.
* Drive continuous improvement within the stores area and implement change.
* Manage Health and Safety within the stores area, maintaining zero accident statistics year on year.
* Keep all item information and document control of food contact surface items and MSDS documents up to date and readily available.
* Implement cost-saving and avoidance activities, documenting and reviewing these at stores meetings.
* Support the engineering function aligning with the site engineering strategy and annual engineering departmental targets.
* Ensure housekeeping and 5S standards set by Group engineering are maintained and improved.
* Support the mentoring, coaching, and development program of the team, liaising with engineering management and training & HR departments as appropriate.
* Ensure engineering inductions, training matrices, and training tasks are completed with the engineering stores assistant for adequate holiday cover.
* Ensure annual appraisal for the stores assistant is completed in conjunction with the engineering management team.
* Engage proactively with employee relations management within the Engineering function.
* Support the development of the CMMS system, ensuring all data fields' entries meet required standards.
* Complete return-to-work processes for the engineering stores assistant.
Personal Competencies & Qualifications:
* Experience in managing a stores or warehousing function, ideally within an engineering context.
* Experience in purchasing and negotiating pricing.
* Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders at a strategic level.
* Experience in budget management.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to delegate when required.
* Ability to work cross-functionally to support business needs and use initiative.
* Ability to challenge others constructively.
* Proactive, dynamic, and motivational with the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
