Our client is an award-winning international engineering consultancy, currently undergoing rapid growth.
You will work in an integrated team of ecologists, environmental scientists, planners and engineers.
You will assist in the assessment and delivery of a range of projects, including ecological management and monitoring, rail, roads, greenways, buildings and bridges.
You will get involved in the ecological and biodiversity aspects of plans and projects.
Your main focus areas will include:
1. Undertaking field surveys
2. Technical reporting (Ecological Impact Assessments and Appropriate Assessments)
3. Consultation with stakeholders and prescribed bodies
4. Overseeing the implementation of mitigation measures and ecological enhancements
Requirements
1. Degree in ecology or a related biological/environmental science subject with an ecological component (Level 8 qualification in the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent)
2. Three to five years’ experience in ecological/planning consultancy
3. Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or equivalent
4. Familiarity with relevant Irish and European legislation e.g. Habitats Directive, Birds Directive, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Directive, Birds and Natural Habitats Regulations
5. Experience in preparing Appropriate Assessment Screening Reports, Natura Impact Statements, Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) Biodiversity Chapters and Ecological Impact Assessments
6. Good field skills and a keen interest in and understanding of Irish wildlife
7. Demonstrated field survey experience in ecology e.g. habitat classification (Fossitt), badger, otter, bat, bird and invasive species surveys
8. Excellent communication and IT skills, with the ability to record data efficiently and methodically
9. A strong work ethic and a client-focused approach
10. Willing to undertake fieldwork in remote areas
11. Fluency/high level of proficiency in spoken and written English
12. Full clean driving licence
13. A postgraduate qualification in a relevant ecological discipline
14. Experience using GIS systems e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS and/or others

1. Salary €35k - €55k based on experience, negotiable for the right candidates.
