Role Overview:
As VP Anti-Money Laundering (AML) will play a critical role in leading and enhancing AML framework and best practices across Europe. This leadership role requires expertise in managing teams over circa 50 people, taking onboard both development and reporting (MI) of the wider team, the management of risk, and ensuring compliance with both local and international regulatory requirements. The VP will lead a team of compliance professionals while working closely with senior stakeholders across the business to mitigate financial crime risks.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the AML program in line with European regulatory standards.
* Provide strategic direction and oversight on AML compliance matters across business lines, ensuring policies and procedures are aligned with best practices and legal requirements.
* Manage and mentor a team of AML professionals, providing guidance, training, and career development.
* Conduct and oversee AML risk assessments for new and existing clients, products, and services.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders including legal, risk, and operational teams to ensure timely and effective resolution of AML-related matters.
* Monitor and analyse AML data and reports, identifying trends/risks, and provide recommendations.
* Act as a senior point of contact for regulatory bodies and external auditors, ensuring the business is fully prepared for examinations and reviews.
* Lead the preparation and submission of regulatory reports, ensuring compliance with local and international AML reporting obligations.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AML regulations and trends, ensuring the organisation’s policies and procedures remain current and effective.
* Oversee the development and execution of training programs to ensure the organisation’s employees are knowledgeable on AML risks and compliance requirements.
* Coordinate the escalation process for potential suspicious activity or significant compliance concerns to senior management.
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience:
* Minimum 7-10 years of experience in AML or financial crime compliance, preferably within Funds
* Proven track record in leading AML teams and managing complex compliance initiatives.
* Extensive experience with regulatory frameworks, including EU and local AML regulations.
Education:
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field.
* Relevant certifications such as ACAMS, ICA, or equivalent will be highly advantageous.
Technical Skills:
* Strong understanding of AML tools, risk management platforms, and regulatory reporting systems.
* Proficiency in data analysis and investigative techniques used in the detection of money laundering and financial crime.
