We are seeking a skilledDesktop Support Engineer to join our financial services clients IT team on a daily rate contract basis.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality technical support to end users, ensuring the smooth operation of desktop systems, applications, and peripherals within a hybrid working environment.
This role requires a proactive problem solver with strong technical expertise and excellent customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide first- and second-line support for desktop, laptop, and mobile device issues. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network connectivity issues in a timely manner. Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software, and applications. Support user onboarding and offboarding processes, including setting up and decommissioning devices. Maintain and support peripheral devices such as printers, scanners, and monitors. Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve escalated issues and ensure seamless IT operations. Manage IT service requests and incidents through the ticketing system, ensuring SLAs are met. Maintain up-to-date documentation of IT processes, procedures, and configurations. Provide remote support for hybrid and remote users. Assist in IT projects such as hardware rollouts, upgrades, and migrations.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Proven experience in a similar desktop support or IT helpdesk role. Strong technical expertise in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office 365 suite. Experience supporting Active Directory (user account management) and Microsoft Exchange. Knowledge of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and troubleshooting. Familiarity with remote support tools and technologies. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to deliver excellent customer service. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
Experience in a financial services environment is a plus. Knowledge of ITIL processes and frameworks. Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft MCP, or ITIL Foundation are advantageous. Exposure to virtual desktop environments (e.g., Citrix or VMware).
