Job Title: Injection Molding Engineer
Location: Longford, Ireland
Job Summary:
The Injection Molding Engineer is responsible for the development, optimization, and maintenance of injection molding processes used in the manufacturing of medical devices. This role ensures compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop, optimize, and validate injection molding processes to ensure consistent part quality and efficiency.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on mold design, tool selection, and material qualification.
3. Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis to resolve molding-related issues.
4. Implement process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and minimize downtime.
5. Support new product introductions by developing molding processes and providing technical input during design reviews.
6. Perform routine mold maintenance and ensure proper documentation of molding parameters and process changes.
7. Train and support production staff on molding best practices and quality control measures.
8. Maintain compliance with ISO 13485, FDA regulations, and other relevant standards for medical device manufacturing.
9. Prepare technical reports, work instructions, and process documentation.
10. Participate in audits and support regulatory submissions as needed.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Plastics, or related field).
2. Years of experience in injection molding, preferably in a medical device manufacturing environment.
3. Strong knowledge of mold design, materials science, and molding equipment.
4. Experience with validation protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ) and regulatory compliance for medical devices.
5. Proficiency in CAD software and statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
7. Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
