The Brothers of Charity Services in Ireland provide a variety of services and supports to over 6,500 people with an intellectual disability or autism, and their families, throughout Counties Clare, Cork, Galway, Kerry, Kilkenny, Limerick, Roscommon, Tipperary, Wexford and Waterford.

The role of a Social Care Worker:
Social Care Workers fulfil a key worker supportive and advocative role for individuals supported by the service.
The Social Care Worker role is to support the person in all aspects of their life, focusing on the individual's ability and promoting independence and development of skills at all times.
You will assist in all aspects of the practical tasks associated with the daily life of the person supported.
The Social Care Worker will assist and support people who use the service with the development of their individual person centred plans and the achievement of associated outcomes, and critically, will support people who use the service to make informed choices and fulfil their potential.
They will encourage participation in the community through inclusive and creative thinking, seek opportunities for new experiences and encourage positive risk taking leading to informed choices.
Professional Qualifications and ExperienceCandidates must:
Possess a Diploma or BA (Ord) Degree in Social Care Practice (Level 7 or higher on the Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI) framework) ORPossess an equivalent qualification recognised by the Social Care Worker Registration Board, CORU ORBe in final year of a relevant social care worker approved qualification, approved by the social care workers registration board, where a conditional offer can be made to the successful candidate based on exam results.
ANDMust be eligible for registration on the Social Care Workers registration board with CORU and obtain such registration by November 2025 and maintain such registration for the duration of employment in this role.
Have a suitable standard of professional attainments.
Have the requisite knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
Be computer literate, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge and proficiency of using information systems for the social care worker post/s.
Have a full clean Driver's licence which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads and drive Service vehicles as required.
ExperienceRelevant experience of working with adults/children with an intellectual disability/autism challenging behaviour in a Residential setting is desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated experience and understanding of how to support individuals with very specific and clinical support requirements, and a clear understanding of the importance of working in line with written protocols and guidelines.
Salary Scale:
€38,951 - €54,989 including 1 LSI (1/10/24) and pro-rata for part-time & temporary contracts.
