The Role
We are currently seeking a highly-motivated Clinical/Educational Psychologist (Staff Grade) to join our Network 5-Galway City West team on a 6-month fixed-term contract.
About the Job
This role will involve providing a range of psychological services to children aged 0-18 years and their families within the City West Network Disability Team. You will work under the direction of the CDNM, partnering with psychology colleagues and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide an integrated and coordinated service to children and their families, working collaboratively with other professionals as required.
* Offer consultation and support programs for parents and families as necessary.
* Prepare reports and information for relevant parties, refer others when appropriate, and liaise with schools and external agencies as needed.
* Attend and participate in relevant meetings and case conferences.
* Integrate clinical/educational psychology skills with current clinical psychology theory and relevant evidence-based knowledge.
* Foster a family-centered approach and adhere to informed consent principles prior to and throughout interventions.
* Select, implement, and analyze the outcomes of standardized and non-standardized assessments.
* Collaborate skillfully with the child/young person and their parent/family/carer to identify goals, including complex situations.
* Apply clinical reasoning to plan, grade, implement, and modify interventions based on outcome-oriented and relevant goals for the child or young person.
* Evaluate and apply intervention outcomes in collaboration with all stakeholders.
Requirements
* A university degree or diploma (Level 8 equivalent) with honors in Psychology as a major subject.
* An Irish postgraduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling, or Educational Psychology, or an equivalent qualification validated by the Department of Health.
* Demonstrate competence in the relevant Care Group/s applied for.
* Applicants with a clinical or counseling psychology qualification must demonstrate at least 60 days of supervised clinical placements or post-qualification work experience in relevant settings.
* Applicants with an educational psychology qualification must demonstrate at least 60 days of supervised clinical placements or post-qualification work experience in relevant settings.
* Membership in the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or the British Psychological Society (BPS).
* Eligibility to work in the state.
