The Senior Systems Administrator will be a member of the Global User Experience & Digital Workplace Team. You will act as a point of contact for all IT related responsibilities on the Cork site and provide a high level of support and guidance to your customers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Demonstrate your understanding of evolving technologies and how you might champion technology initiatives for the site from concept through to implementation.
2. Play a key role in continuing the strategic development of the User Experience and Digital Workplace team in Boston Scientific Cork alongside other team members.
3. Administer local procurement processes, manage vendors, process purchase orders, review invoices and manage local spend to a budget.
4. Manage, monitor, and report upon the activities of the User Experience & Digital Workplace Strategy team in Cork.
5. Sometimes lead and often participate in both local & global IT Projects.
6. Act as point-of-contact for User Experience & Digital Workplace team on site, liaise with functional leads and managers on IT related matters.
7. Interact with users and other IT teams to accommodate IT service delivery for the site.
8. Organize and perform installation, move, add, changes of IT application, computer, phone and other hardware.
9. Troubleshoot and repair issues related to phone, computer, peripherals, printer, application and operating systems.
10. Create and maintain database entries in Remedy Asset Management to accurately track Information Technology assets and monitor and maintain work or repair requests in the Remedy Incident Management System.
11. Plan, test and partner in the roll-out of new applications, hardware, operating systems and infrastructure equipment.
12. Perform hardware and software compatibility tests for monthly/quarterly security patching, application and Operating System updates.
13. Maintain, develop and install network infrastructure equipment and implement necessary changes.
14. Provide guidance and technical expertise for users related to system or software related purchases and provide ad-hoc user training and instruction on computer hardware and applications.
15. May be responsible for server administration, storage back-up and other data centre activities as needed.
16. Join the on-call process which provides a 24x7 IT support process for high and critical issues onsite.
17. Will have had experience of working with global teams across multiple time zones.
18. Will have demonstrable competence in, or a strong drive to learn, some or all the following areas: Windows OS (Windows 10), MS Office 365, Networking, Active Directory, PC / Thin Client Imaging, Video Conferencing & Audio Visual support, VPN support & Mobile Phone support.
Education
1. 5-8 years’ experience supporting IT in a Manufacturing environment.
2. Level 8 qualification in relevant IT discipline.
3. Strong Communicator with excellent problem-solving skills.
4. Experience of supporting IT in a regulated environment.
5. Knowledge of ITIL or Agile methodology is a distinct advantage.
