Main duties of the job Across the Trust, our Endoscopy departments perform a variety of standard and advanced Endoscopic procedures for both out-patients and in-patients including; gastroscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, percutaneous endoscopic gastroscopy (PEG) insertion, oesophageal stenting and ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography).
Other specialist work is also undertaken by individual consultants.
Our departments are presently offer a 7 day service including bank holidays.
Our current hours of opening are 8am until 7pm.
Main duties of this post: To decontaminate and process endoscopes and other equipment.
To assist in the delivery of safe patient care, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
To contribute to the efficient running of the endoscopy unit as directed by the Registered Nurse To assist in the induction of new staff as directed by the Registered Nurse.
To undertake delegated duties related to patient care that contribute to their treatment plans.
To support patients and their families with care and compassion at all stages of their procedure.
To promote and uphold the privacy, dignity, rights, health and wellbeing of people accessing our services.
To work in accordance with Trust policies and procedures and operate within the boundaries of the role and sphere of assessed competencies.
To maintain standards of work and care through regular updates.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential oLiteracy and numeracy qualifications equivalent to Functional Skills level 1 or above ( GCSE grade E or above) oNVQ/QCF Level 3 in Care or equivalent qualification or relevant experience.
oEvidence of the Care Certificate or commitment to achieve on joining Trust.
oMotivated to develop knowledge and skills and to undertake self-development Desirable oUnderstanding of the Code of Conduct for Health Care Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers in England Previous Experience Essential oSignificant experience of the NHS and/or health/child care and an interest in the speciality with knowledge of wider issues relating to health care oClear understanding of professional accountability, delegation and professionalism related to the role of a band 3 worker.
