The Supplier Engineering team is responsible for aspects of supplier selection.
Our team plays a lead role in partnering with best-in-industry suppliers globally to provide materials, products, innovation, and services that drive competitive advantage for Boston Scientific.
New Product Development, Material Qualification, and Continuous Improvement are the key streams of focus for the team across all purchased commodities in Boston Scientific.
The Supplier Engineering Team is also responsible for the technical leadership & support within the supply chain and achieving year-on-year material cost reduction targets.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical lead on Teams comprising representatives from Purchasing, Supplier Quality, and Business Units responsible for all aspects of Supplier Management.Demonstrates Technical Leadership skills in Commodity Management.Interfaces with suppliers and category team members to support investigation of supplied material issues or supply constraints.Partners with manufacturing, quality, and/or sustaining R&D/DA/PM to execute changes initiated by BSC or by the Suppliers, such as improvement projects, supplier capability, capacity, and compliance projects.Providing professional development opportunities and technical leadership to supplier engineers.Responsible for Establishing & Achieving business objectives of the Team in terms of Quality, Cost, and Service.Drives Continuous Improvement of Quality & Quality Systems, Service Capability, and Total Cost of Ownership throughout the Supply Chain.Supports investigation of Material Quality issues as they arise.
Works with Quality, Procurement & Value Streams to resolve technical challenges.Promotes the Quality System within the Supply Base.Works with Procurement, Supplier Quality Engineering, Receiving Inspection & Business Units to ensure that components meet established requirements.Ensures that adequate Corrective Actions are identified, implemented, and controlled by Suppliers.Provides guidance to other functional areas in applying Supplier Management system requirements.Contributes to the development, maintenance, and improvement of Supplier Management Policies and Procedures.Communicates effectively with all Internal & External Stakeholders.Develops new Supply sources with the Procurement Team.Identifies and Drives Material Value Improvement Projects (VIPs) throughout the Supply Chain.Deputize for Supplier Engineering Manager as required.Education & ExperienceAn ability to demonstrate high standards of leadership and cultivate business relationships.A demonstrated track record in Project Management Skills.Min 3-5 years of experience working in a regulated environment (Automotive, Medical Devices, or Pharmaceutical).Coaching and development - team succession planning.Minimum Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Science or Engineering.At Boston Scientific, you will find a collaborative culture driven by a passion for innovation that keeps us connected on the most essential level.
