The Team
The People and Capability Office has overall responsibility for crafting and implementing a vision for organisational transformation, driving initiatives that support EirGrid strategic goals in people management, internal communications, and process enhancement.
The People and Capability Office plays a pivotal role in shaping the next phase of EirGrid's evolution, facilitating cultural change, and building and enabling a high-performance environment. From talent development to employee engagement, the People and Capability Office leads the charge in creating a motivated workforce and delivering best-practice HR policies and solutions.
Job Purpose
To enhance our people relations, the HR Function has created a new opportunity for an Industrial Relation Specialist. The Industrial Relations Specialist is a key role within the People and Capability team responsible for managing and maintaining positive employee relations, ensuring company compliance with Irish labour laws and regulations, and handling all industrial relations issues within the organization. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of Irish employment law with exceptional communications and negotiation skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain positive relationships with employees, management, and the representative staff body.
* Act as the company interface between the company and the representative staff body.
* Arrange and lead regular meetings with the representative body and update the company accordingly.
* Manage consultations and negotiations with trades unions and employee representatives.
* Work collaboratively with HR Operations and propose ER/IR solutions within the corporate governance arrangements.
* Facilitate and manage internal and external employee/industrial relations cases and liaise with legal regarding positive resolution.
* Work pro-actively to resolve ER/IR cases and represent the Company at external cases that may arise including WRC and Labour Court when required.
* Consult with the organization on labour laws and applicable legislation.
* Provide counsel to workers regarding company and governmental policies, regulations, and procedures.
* Prepare for arbitration, advise management on labour law developments, and introduce attendance control policies.
* Conduct investigations into employee misconduct or violations of company policies.
* Support and advise managers on difficult people issues.
* Ensure all people practices are legally compliant and align with the employer brand.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Labor Relations, or other related field.
* 5+ years of experience in industrial relations or a similar HR role.
* In-depth knowledge of Irish labour law and employment legislation.
* Ability to build trust and engage with people effectively.
* Proficient in managing conflict and solving problems.
* Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret context.
* Knowledge of employee health, safety, and wellbeing practices.
* Superior communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
This opportunity is being offered on a permanent, part time basis, 2 - 3 days per week.
