About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Ad Astra Fellow - Assistant Professor of AI for Advanced Manufacturing. The successful candidate will have a background in Artificial Intelligence (AI), including machine learning, digital twins, smart manufacturing systems, AI-driven optimization, predictive analytics, robotics, or autonomous systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Teach and supervise undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Mechanical & Materials Engineering
* Conduct research in AI for Advanced Manufacturing, with a focus on digitisation and its role in manufacturing
* Collaborate with industry partners to address efficiency and sustainability issues in sectors such as precision engineering, aeronautics, medical device, or pharmaceutical manufacturing
About the School
The School of Mechanical & Materials Engineering is a dynamic, research-driven school with a clear focus on delivering excellent teaching programmes. We have grown considerably in the last 10 years, with 40 academic staff, 50 research staff, and 130 Ph.D. students. Our school has achieved outstanding success in Advanced Manufacturing over the last 8 years and is home to the Research Ireland-funded I-Form National Centre for Advanced Manufacturing Research.
