Background
The Orchard Care Group is a wholly owned Irish company that provides services to children and young adults in the care and disability sectors. The group comprises Orchard Fostering, Orchard Residential, and Orchard Community Care. Orchard Fostering provides foster care services nationally, while Orchard Residential and Orchard Community Care primarily serve the Northwest, West, and Southeast of Ireland.
The Role
* Working across Orchard Community Care (Disability), the Speech & Language Therapist will join our multidisciplinary team to provide a range of speech and language therapy inputs to children and adults with an intellectual disability. This full-time role will be based in our Sligo office and will support individuals across the Northwest and western regions.
* Role Objectives
* Provide comprehensive speech and language therapy assessments and interventions to children and young people with complex disabilities, focusing on enhancing their communication and functional abilities and participation in daily activities.
* Demonstrate exemplary clinical skills in SLT assessment, intervention, and diagnostics to meet the specific needs of children and young people with a range of disabilities, including physical, sensory, and autism.
* Provide a speech and language therapy service that includes communication assessment, diagnostics, intervention, and ongoing service delivery to children and adults with various disabilities.
* Develop individualized treatment plans and support plans based on evidence-based practices.
* Collaborate with other multidisciplinary team (MDT) members in an interdisciplinary model and support the Regional Directors to provide holistic care.
* Engage with families and caregivers to provide education and support regarding their child’s communication needs.
* Participate in service development initiatives and quality improvement projects.
* Team Support: Provide education, training, and support to team members to empower them to facilitate the development of the people we support.
* Develop and maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, treatment plans, and progress reports in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
* Continuous Professional Development: Stay abreast of the latest research and best practices in speech and language therapy and apply this knowledge to improve service delivery.
Reporting Relationship and Location
The post holder will report to the Regional Director of Orchard Community Care. The post holder will be based in Sligo and will be required to travel to our premises across the West and Northwest.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The successful candidate must meet the following criteria:
* A recognized third level qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
* A minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience, preferably working with children and young adults with disabilities.
* Ideally, experience in the delivery of communication aid programs, including Lamh.
* Be registered or eligible for registration as a Speech & Language Therapist by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
* Must have valid Garda Clearance and valid Overseas Clearance (if the applicant lived abroad for more than 6 months).
* Full driver's license with eligibility to drive in Ireland and access to a vehicle.
* Be eligible to work in the state without restriction.
Desirable Criteria:
* Clinical experience of working with children, adults, and their families as part of an interdisciplinary team with relevant specific training.
* Demonstrates sufficient clinical skills in Speech and Language Therapy assessment, intervention, and diagnostics to meet the specific needs of the relevant caseload.
