Our client,
a major energy provider, are seeking a Resident Electrical Engineer in Limerick to support the transition of a large Irish power station primary fuel from coal to heavy fuel oil.
The client are seeking a candidate who is available to work as soon as possible on a contract basis, until the expected project completion date of February 2026.
Key Responsibilities
1. Oversee electrical engineering tasks for emergency generation projects, ensuring successful delivery.
2. Manage on-site teams and coordinate with Station Electrical and Instrumentation teams.
3. Facilitate coordination among Control & Instrumentation, Mechanical, and Civil design teams for project coherence.
4. Ensure compliance with regulations, standards, and safety guidelines in the installation, testing, and operation of electrical systems.
5. Coordinate testing and commissioning activities for LV, MV, and HV systems, offering guidance on procedures and documentation.
6. Support project management from installation to handover, including engineering design and support services.
7. Uphold high safety standards across all project aspects, particularly regarding safety systems.
8. Assist in developing project programs and budgets.
9. Take direct responsibility for managing key project elements and oversee contracts and claims.
10. Supervise contractors’ works, review ITP protocol sheets, and collaborate with station Management and Maintenance Teams as needed.
11. Conduct regular safety, environmental, and quality audits during construction and commissioning.
12. Provide progress reports and attend project meetings as required by Project and Site Managers.
13. Manage project interfaces such as procurement and design, ensuring smooth coordination.
14. Attend onsite meetings with contractors to support project objectives.
15. Collaborate with Project Manager to control costs for assigned contracts.
16. Develop technical specifications for Electrical plant and equipment and participate in tendering and procurement processes.
17. Utilize plant modification process for E&I plant modifications, ensuring all procedures and drawings are updated.
18. Employ the client’s Contractor Management process to track contract progress and hold necessary meetings.
19. Attend FATs and workshops if required and produce Close-Out Reports.
20. Review commissioning procedures and ensure proper implementation.
Essential Knowledge Skills & Experience
21. Proven track record of significant experience in the power generation industry. A minimum of 7 years’ relevant
experience is required. Design, and Construction or Commissioning experience, is preferred.
22. Engineer level 8 (QQI) qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
23. Extensive knowledge of electrical equipment utilised in power plant projects, preferably including LV and MV
24. Proven ability to deliver on the key responsibilities outlined above.
25. A proven track record in delivering complex engineering projects and ability to manage multiple projects.
26. Experience of Project Management tools would be an advantage.
27. Working knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environment Standards, as well as Electrical Safety procedures
28. Experience in managing individuals and teams across different organizational groups
29. Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team
30. Self-motivated with the ability to manage personal tasks and coordinate with colleagues
31. Capacity to contribute and share knowledge within a team structure
32. Exceptional report writing capability
33. Proficient computer skills
Desirable Knowledge Skills & Experience
34. Proficient experience and knowledge of Control and Instrumentation systems
35. Familiarity with Grid Code Testing especially with the latest version of EirGrid Grid Code v13
