Wexford General Hospital is part of the HSE Dublin & South East Health Authority, governed by a Board of Management which is chaired by the Hospital Manager. This hospital is a 270-bedded institution providing Inpatient, Outpatient, Day Care, Outreach and Emergency Services and is situated in the South East corner of Ireland with access from the M11 and N25, accessible by road and rail from Rosslare Europort.
The duties and responsibilities of a Non-Consultant Hospital Doctor (NCHD) include:
* participating as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in the provision of medical care to patients;
* diagnosing and treating patients;
* ensuring that duties and functions are undertaken in a manner that prioritises the safety and well-being of patients;
* assessing patients on admission and/or discharge as required and writing detailed reports in the case notes;
* ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests;
* initiating and monitoring treatment;
* communicating effectively with patients and clients;
* further progressing knowledge of diagnosis and management;
* participating in multidisciplinary clinical audit and proactive risk management and facilitating the production of all data/information for same;
* co-operating with such arrangements as are put into place to verify the delivery of all contractual commitments;
* co-operating with such measures as are necessary to ensure compliance with the requirements of the European Working Time Directive and related Irish legislation;
* co-operating with investigations, enquiries or audit relating to the provision of health services;
* complying with statutory and regulatory requirements, agreed training principles where appropriate, corporate policies and procedures and human resource policies and procedures;
* attending at NCHD Induction. Induction training before the commencement of the employment relationship is not paid, while induction training during the currency of the employment relationship is paid; for interns, induction training prior to internship shall be paid in accordance with the DOH salary scales.
* performing other duties as required by the supervising Consultant / Clinical Director / Employer.
The NCHD is entitled during his/her employment to regular review of his/her performance - including MET/Research performance – by and together with the designated supervising Consultant / Clinical Director / Head of Academic Department.
