Role
Support quality control analysis activities and the maintenance of supply of key equipment and materials to the laboratory team.
Key Responsibilities Accountabilities and Duties
1. Receive and manage samples that come into the lab for stability, in-process and release testing.
2. Perform assigned Quality Control analysis activities flow cytometry, primarily probiotic enumeration, moisture analysis, water activity analysis and pH.
3. Perform inspections and testing on incoming raw materials, in-process production, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
4. Record and report inspection and testing results, including deviations from quality standards, in a clear and organized manner.
5. Trend analysis and reporting on stability and QC testing.
6. Organise and log samples on a portal for external laboratory testing.
7. Log test reports from external laboratories.
8. Calibrate and maintain testing equipment and instruments to ensure accuracy in quality control processes.
9. Follow established quality control procedures and protocols to maintain consistency in the production process.
10. Daily management of glassware cleaning to ensure sufficient supply of clean glassware to the laboratory team.
11. Preparation of diluents and media depending on laboratory team requirements.
12. Participate in the development and revision of quality control procedures as needed.
13. Archiving of retained samples.
14. Monitoring, measuring and recording performance of key laboratory equipment (fridges, incubators etc.).
15. Maintain laboratory housekeeping standards and general laboratory support tasks as required.
16. Monitor and enforce adherence to safety and quality regulations and guidelines.
17. Assist in the investigation of customer complaints and product returns, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
18. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuous process improvement projects.
19. Collaborate with production teams to identify and address quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
20. Train production and other staff on quality control procedures and best practices.
Education/Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in a science-related discipline.
2. Experience in a laboratory environment.
