A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent Staff Nurse appointments within the Skylark Services may be made over the next 6 months.
Location:
Skylark Services Athenry are a community-based day and residential service in the Athenry town area of Galway. We provide community based day, respite and residential services to adults with varying support needs based on personal outcome measures. Our focus is to form a relationship / partnership with each individual and their family to support people to be valued citizens in their local community and to have ordinary life experiences. We wish to create opportunities for people who use our service to have valued social roles in their communities and to have the chance to form real friendships.
Reporting/Responsible To:
Team Leader/Service Coordinator/Area Manager.
Working With:
People supported and their families/Team Leader/Multidisciplinary staff/Service Management.
Qualifications:
A current Live Register Certificate from the NMBI (An Bord Altranais), RNID or RGN qualification is essential. Candidates must have a current full clean manual Irish driving licence; this is an essential requirement of the post.
Experience:
Candidates must have relevant experience and an appreciation of the responsibilities of the post and issues affecting the everyday lives of individuals with an Intellectual Disability.

6. Ability to educate other staff and family members in positive health promotion needs.
7. The successful candidate will be required to co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy, participate in person-centred planning, individual reviews, team meetings, attend and participate in training courses, and actively contribute to team based performance management.
Working Hours:
30 hours per week is based on a 7 day duty roster. The successful candidate will be required to work days, evenings, weekends, public holidays, and sleepovers to meet service needs. The Brothers of Charity Services model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.
Annual Leave:
24 days per annum pro rata. Appropriate service related leave will be granted after 5 and 10 years’ service respectively.
Remuneration:
Staff Nurse - € 35,919 x 11 increments - € 52,294 pro rata per annum. Long Service Increment € 53,851 per annum is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. The successful candidate will be granted incremental credit subject to satisfactory verification of previous relevant nursing service. Additional payments will be made for weekends, public holidays, and sleep-ins and night duty when worked.
Tenure:
This post is permanent part-time and pensionable.
Probation:
A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employer’s discretion.
