Job DescriptionWhat you will be doingAssist with managing the day to day operations and organisation of the General Food Chemistry Laboratory ensuring samples are processed accurately, promptly and efficiently for required testing while maintaining high standards of compliance with Health and Safety, Quality Systems and Customer requirements. Provide excellent customer service through accurate and timely reporting of results and response to customer queries. Provide technical support, supervision and training as required to colleagues in the team. Proactively assist management with development of the department to ensure both Eurofins business objectives and Customer requirements are consistently delivered. Main responsibilities will include:Deputise for Laboratory Manager and Technical Leader as required.Ensure laboratory is operated in a safe manner in accordance with Eurofins H&S system requirements.Assist with thorough review of all work received and allocation of work on a daily basis to technicians assigned to the Department.Lead employee and test scheduling to deliver results on time to customers.Implementing quality system requirements in all areas of work including ensuring amendments to the Quality Manual or other QA documentations are promptly implemented as instructed.Lead investigation and root cause analyses of out of specification (OOS) investigations and assist in completing laboratory investigation reports (LIR) under the supervision of Technical Management Team and Quality Assurance Manager.Perform testing as required to ensure customer and operational needs are met.Provide supervision, training and guidance to staff as required. Participate in training programmes, undergo further training as required and participate in schemes to ensure on going competence and development of skills.Ensure that Customer instructions are complied with, and that correct and appropriate methodology is always used.Ensure that laboratory resources – equipment, materials and staff are properly used at all times. Develop and maintain relationships with instrumentation vendors to ensure all preventive and corrective maintenance on instrumentation is performed in a proactive manner maximizing instrument uptime.To uphold and always maintain company and customer confidentiality.Maintain accurate and systematic records in accordance with documented procedures.Possess good working knowledge of relevant documents within the Quality System including Test Methods, SOPs, Quality Manual, methods, EQA & IQC and client specific standards or specifications (where relevant).Proactively support maintenance of QC system, introduction of new instruments, operational practices and test methods including performing / supporting method validations to meet INAB/ISO17025 and customer requirements.Assist with daily planning of Departments workload to ensure customer deadlines are met and continually improve TATs.Ensure that the reported data is correct, that QC Specifications and other requirements of the Quality Manual and of relevant accreditation body have been complied with in respect of the report issued.To be able to act as an Authorised Signatory for Test Certificates where required and trained, reporting results in a timely manner. (Where relevant)Proactively investigate any faults or problems and if not resolved, report findings to Management without delay.Support the Laboratory Manager with maintenance of quality system, clearance of non-compliance, method review, method development and validation projects, preparation of regulatory and customer audits / visits, as directed.Support as required the timely investigation of customer complaints, queries and other sources of non-conforming work.Ensuring that excellent standards of housekeeping and hygiene are always maintained according to stipulated procedures.Uphold client confidence in accuracy and response times of testing.Comply with all aspects of Eurofins H&S policy.QualificationsWhat you'll need to succeedDegree level qualification in Food Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or other relevant subject requiredExperience with multiple chromatography instrument platforms (i.e. ICP-MS, LSMS, GC, HPLC, IC) required.Experience with multiple chromatography software platforms (i.e. Chromeleon, Open Lab, MassHunter, etc.) required.Record of ongoing professional developmentPrevious experience working within an accredited contract testing laboratory or related industry laboratory environment are preferred but full training will be providedThorough understanding of relevant quality system and accreditation requirementsGood keyboards skills and experience of LIMS Systems, MS Office packages in particular Excel.Good standard of written and spoken English and numeracy skills.
