Job Title: Support Worker
About the Role:
We are seeking a Support Worker to join our team in Dublin, Ireland. The successful candidate will work with young people aged 15-18 who are out of home in a short-term residential setting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work within the framework of the organisation's overall objective and values.
• Collaborate as part of a team within established policies and procedures or under the direction of senior staff members.
• Act as a key worker for individual young people, working in partnership with external agencies to support their needs.
• Develop individualised programmes exploring clients' experiences of homelessness and supporting them to break this cycle, preparing them for independent living.
• Support young people who have experienced trauma and challenging behaviour.
• Advocate on behalf of young people for housing, social work, social welfare, education, training, and legal rights.
• Work with young people to develop and maintain an individual placement plan, aligning with their statutory care plan.
• Refer and support young people accessing external agencies for personal, social, educational, employment, legal, and accommodation needs.
• Maintain accurate records in accordance with statutory requirements and health and safety legislation.
• Attend team, review, and agency meetings as required.
• Assist in implementing Focus Ireland's settlement policies and strategies.
• Undertake other duties reasonably assigned by senior staff members.
• Adhere to Health, Safety, and Welfare at Work regulations, reporting any concerns to management.
• Participate in a 7-day, 24-hour roster.
Requirements:
• Experience working in a children's residential centre or with children with complex needs in other settings.
• A degree-level qualification in Social Care or a related field.
• Full Clean driver's license.
• Knowledge of childhood adversity's impact on adolescents.
• Familiarity with HIQA National Standards for Children's Residential Centres.
• Ability to manage and support teenagers in crisis with challenging behaviours.
• High standard of written communication.
• Understanding of Child Protection and responses to concerns.
• Familiarity with the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention model.
• Strong teamwork and support skills.
