Accounting Technician
Established over 70 years ago, my client runs a busy solicitor’s practice based in South Galway and is looking to hire an experienced accounts technician/bookkeeper to join their team. Previous legal practice experience is preferred. This is a hybrid position based in Loughrea, Galway.
Responsibilities:
1. Update and maintenance of postings for both Client Accounts and Office accounts.
2. Nominal Accounts, Supplier Accounts and Third party Accounts.
3. Recording of receipts/direct lodgments/payments by cheques, EFT, Land Direct payments and CRO payments ensuring accuracy and compliance with Law Society regulations.
4. Document evidence for receipts and payments.
5. Transfers from Clients Account and Journal for Transfers.
6. Clients Authorities in relation to S.150 letters/Bills of Costs/Statement of Account.
7. Monthly Bank reconciliations for all Clients accounts and Office account.
8. Month end and Year end reports and Balancing Statements.
9. Invoicing, processing of Invoices/Bills of Costs and contacting Clients regarding outstanding accounts.
10. Assisting fee earners with finalising Bills of Costs and Statements of Accounts.
11. Processing of supplier Invoices and Accounts Payable.
12. Preparation and filing of VAT returns and Thesaurus Payroll System.
Qualifications and Requirements:
1. Previous legal accounts experience in a Legal Office or similar Office is essential.
2. Experience in Solicitors computerised accounts and case management systems.
3. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and numerical skills are essential.
4. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Law Society accounts regulations.
5. Excellent communication skills and an eye for accuracy.
6. Ability to work well as part of a team and meet deadlines.
