Camphill Community of Ireland
A Social Care Manager (Person in Charge) is required to fill this full-time post. You will need a strong management and leadership background, experience of working with people with intellectual disability offering person-centered support, and a sound understanding of regulatory requirements. You should have skills to lead the safe support to residents within a complex residential environment, strong business skills, and be qualified in social care. Commitment to personal development and teamwork is essential.
The post provides the opportunity to work as part of a committed team, a competitive salary, and access to collaborative learning within a leading national organisation. This is a full-time salaried position averaging around 40 hours per week, which may include being on call at evenings and weekends. All appointments will be subject to Garda Vetting.
The community provides Residential Life sharing Services, Day Opportunities, and Support Services for adults with support needs. Camphill is an organisation with a strong voluntary ethos and includes many voluntary and vocational coworkers, some of whom also live in the community.
Purpose of Post
To uphold Camphill Community of Ireland ethos and values in the role of principal person responsible for the day-to-day management of the Community, ensuring the Community provides residential and person-centered support where individuals enjoy a safe environment and excellent quality of life.
Working with staff and coworkers to develop and plan all aspects of the service that promote quality for both service users and coworkers, meeting Health Information & Quality Authority standards.
Providing leadership to the Community and line management to those working within the Community.
Ensuring the Community operates effectively and sustainably, building on Camphill's ethos to offer an inspiring model of social enterprise and community building involving adults with support needs.
Key Responsibilities
Governance and Leadership
* Report regularly to the national Senior Management Team (SMT) on the functioning and developments within the Community.
* Provide strategic advice and guidance to the SMT and Regional Manager regarding the Community's business.
* Provide leadership and line management to the management group, ensuring they have the skills, knowledge, resources, and motivation to fulfill their responsibilities.
* Direct and control the work and resources of the Community collaboratively in accordance with the business plan and agreed policies and procedures.
* Maintain excellent working relationships with the HSE and comply with HIQA standards and reporting requirements.
Operational Management
* Accountable for the overall provision of service, ensuring all staff are fully supported to carry out their responsibilities.
* Ensure a 'no tolerance' culture for abuse is maintained.
* Deliver high-quality service aligned with Camphill's ethos and values, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Effectively manage change and develop, implement, and review business plans annually.
* Ensure effective record-keeping and reporting to support the Community's functioning and fulfill reporting requirements.
* Manage risk throughout the Community, ensuring health and safety standards are met.
* Investigate and respond to complaints in line with organizational policies and procedures.
* Ensure clarity of goals and aims through quality assessments and personal plans.
* Enable residents to have choice and control in their lives and develop citizenship.
* Work collaboratively with other community organizations and initiatives.
Staffing
* Ensure clear communication with all staff and effective systems for engagement and consultation.
* Meet the dependency needs of residents through appropriate staffing levels and skills mix.
* Identify and address training needs within the community.
* Participate in the on-call system and provide cover as required.
* Review staffing levels regularly to meet assessed needs.
* Ensure recruitment and management of staff comply with legislative requirements.
* Provide regular supervision and annual appraisal for all staff.
* Ensure appropriate accounting procedures are followed.
* Prepare and agree on the annual budget, ensuring targets are met and costs controlled.
* Support the financial viability of the Community through annual review of business strategy.
* Manage resident's accounts and ensure effective safeguards for personal finances.
Residents and others who access support from the Community
Engage with residents to shape and develop support that meets their needs and aspirations.
Work within an intentional living approach that fosters citizenship and personal fulfillment.
Partnership Working and Networking
* Develop relationships with the HSE, external partners, and agencies to promote collaboration.
* Provide required returns and business information to partner agencies in a timely manner.
* Share learning and develop material with colleagues nationally.
* Identify key issues and learning to assist in the development of CCoI.
* Serve as the primary spokesperson for the local Camphill Community.
* Be aware of legal and regulatory duties and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
* Attend meetings and training as required for service delivery improvement.
* Support best practice in record keeping in line with Data Protection guidelines.
* Carry out other duties consistent with the post as required.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
* A minimum of a Level 7 on the QQI Framework - BA in Social Care Studies, Social Care Management or equivalent relevant qualification in Health or Social Care.
* Postgraduate qualification ideally in Social Care Management or Management Qualification.
* At least 3 years of senior management experience at a similar level of responsibility including demonstrable experience in strategic planning.
* At least 5 years' experience in the health/social care or voluntary sector.

Details of the Role:
Salary Scale: €54,422 - €60,922 Per Annum (based on a 40 hour per week) Plus on call rate of €3,904
Contract: Permanent - Fulltime 40 hours
