The Civil, Environmental & Renewables Engineering Group within Engineering and Major Projects provides a range of planning, design, construction, and maintenance services for electricity industry infrastructure projects in Ireland and abroad.
Senior Architect Role
The Senior Architect role includes the delivery of architectural services from feasibility to construction stage for electricity infrastructure projects with ESB. It involves providing relevant architectural services for new developments and maintaining/refurbishing existing assets.
The architect will provide technical advice and support to ensure regulatory and legal compliance for the business during the development of new assets and operation of existing assets. The role also involves mentoring and professional development of junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide architectural design services throughout the project lifecycle from feasibility to commissioning.
* Fulfill the duties of Design Certifier and/or Assigned Certifier under the Building Control (Amendment) Regulations.
* Develop and manage project implementation plans covering key aspects of scope, programme, and cost.
* Ensure adherence to requirements and compliance with Planning, Fire Safety, Safety & Health enactments.
* Manage information and maintain consistency with ESB procedures.
* Provide specialist technical advice on architectural matters such as Contract Management, Building Control Compliance, and Sustainable Design.
* Ensure effective communication with Customer Departments and stakeholders on project development status, programme, and costs.
* Manage consultants, review technical reports, and resolve technical issues.
* Manage project budgets and scope to ensure timely delivery.
Experience and Qualifications
* Minimum 5 years experience as a consultant architect with strong design skills.
* Degree in Architecture or related discipline, NFQ Level 8 or equivalent recognized qualification, and Registered Architect status.
* Comprehensive understanding of Irish regulations, legislation, policy, and guidance, including proficiency in BCMS platform and BC(A)R process.
* Demonstrable experience in Contract Administration and knowledge of Planning, Building Control, and general regulations.
* Strong stakeholder management skills and proven track record of managing internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable
* Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT.
* Project management and contract management skills and knowledge.
* Understanding of Tendering processes.
* Demonstrable competence and experience in safety management, including Project Supervisor Design Phase (PSDP).
Location
This position will be based in ESB E&MP's Offices in Dublin or Cork, but travel to project locations is a requirement.
