An established and reputable SME business located on the outskirts of Cork City are looking to hire their next part time Payroll and Accounts Payable professional.
Job Overview
As the Payroll and Accounts Payable Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll and the management of accounts payable functions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Processing payroll for a small to medium-sized workforce, ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time
* Managing and processing employee benefits, pensions, and statutory deductions (e.g. PAYE, PRSI)
* Liaising with employees regarding payroll queries and resolving issues promptly
* Preparing and submitting payroll-related reports to management
* Processing and managing supplier invoices and ensuring they are paid on time
* Reviewing and verifying the accuracy of invoices, ensuring compliance with company policies
* Maintaining accurate records of all transactions and reconciling accounts
* Preparing payment runs and managing payment schedules
* Communicating with suppliers regarding payment issues or discrepancies
* Assisting with monthly and year-end closing procedures
* Supporting the preparation of financial reports and budgets as required
* Managing administrative tasks related to payroll and accounts payable functions
Key Skills and Qualifications:
* Proven experience in payroll processing and accounts payable
* Strong knowledge of payroll systems and software
* Strong attention to detail with excellent numerical and analytical skills
* Good understanding of taxation, payroll legislation, and accounting procedures
* Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage deadlines efficiently
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
* A qualification in accounting, finance, or a related field would be advantageous, though not essential
