About Peter McVerry Trust:
Peter McVerry Trust is a national housing and homeless charity committed to reducing homelessness and the harm caused by substance misuse and social disadvantage.
The charity provides low-threshold entry services, primarily to younger people and vulnerable adults with complex needs, and offers pathways out of homelessness based on the principles of the Housing First model.
In 2022, the charity worked with over 12,000 people and was active in 28 local authorities across Ireland.
Key Responsibilities:
To the Manager/Team Leader:
* Work within the authority delegated by the Manager/Project Leader.
* Meet with the Manager/Project Leader regularly regarding work progress.
* Assist in delivering core housing management services to residents and communities.
To Provide Direct Support to Participants:
* Complete face-to-face assessments to determine eligibility for service and needs.
* Initiate dialogue on mental and physical health as part of a holistic care approach.
* Develop a support plan based on assessments and review regularly.
* Link participants to services such as entitlements, medical care, treatment, and housing.
* Assist participants in managing tenancies with intervention, support, and supervision.
* Monitor progress, service delivery, and health with a minimum of monthly visits.
* Liaise with agencies to support participants ongoing health and well-being.
* Perform crisis interventions to resolve critical situations.
* Maintain records and data in accordance with requirements.
To Maintain a Safe and Healthy Living Environment:
* Adhere to safety and security protocols.
* Support participants with estate management matters.
* Ensure that living environments are maintained to a high standard.
* Advise and support residents with housekeeping needs.
* Mediate disputes and encourage cooperation in shared living environments.
To Respond to Requests for Service:
* Link with other Peter McVerry Trust services, screening, and assessment.
* Communicate information and refer to services as needed.
* Engage in out-of-hours on-call service on a roster basis.
To Undertake Administrative Duties:
* Maintain resident details and documentation.
* Manage rent collection and administration.
* Attend staff meetings, case reviews, and training as required.
* Provide written reports to the Manager/Team Leader when necessary.
* Record any incidents or accidents that may occur.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required:
* Degree-level qualification in housing, social care, youth work, addiction studies, or a related field.
* Essential competencies: commitment to service, respect for others, openness to change, strong communication skills (oral, written, and listening), ability to manage challenging behavior, professionalism, and teamwork.
* Ability to work independently and exercise mature judgment.
* At least 2 years experience in housing and homelessness services.
* Experience in Intensive Case Management is a distinct advantage.
