Senior Solicitor Opportunity in Planning and Environmental Law
An exciting leadership opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Solicitor with a strong background in planning, environmental law, climate, and sustainability.
This role offers the chance to take ownership of a multidisciplinary function within the Dispute Resolution and Regulatory department of a prestigious Dublin-based firm.
As part of this self-contained but collaborative unit, you will lead the firm's planning and environmental offering, drawing on the expertise of industry leaders from various practice areas, including infrastructure, construction, and energy.
The primary focus of the team is contentious work, and you will play a key role in delivering and coordinating high-quality services for clients in this space.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will be an ambitious professional, whether an emerging talent or a recognised market leader in planning and environmental law, with proven leadership abilities and a collaborative approach to working within teams.
* Build and maintain strong internal relationships, while engaging effectively with the firm's diverse and significant client base.
* Manage relationships with key regulatory bodies and state agencies.
* Lead planning judicial review proceedings against state agencies and authorities.
* Provide expert legal advice on all aspects of planning and environmental law, including development control and environmental impact assessments.
* Advise clients on planning applications, appeals, inquiries, judicial reviews, and statutory challenges.
* Represent clients in negotiations with local authorities, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 5 years' experience in planning and environmental law, or a strong track record in P&E advisory, contentious, or non-contentious legal services.
* Exceptional relationship-building and management skills.
* Excellent legal drafting skills and the ability to provide clear, concise, and actionable advice to clients.
* Strong commercial acumen and an ability to build and sustain client relationships, with the potential for a client following.
* Solid understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, market precedents, and policy documents.
* The ability to work independently and demonstrate entrepreneurial leadership.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills.
* Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
