Nearwater is expanding its business in Europe and establishing an office in Dublin, Ireland. It is seeking an organised and experienced Head of Trading (PCF 29) in Securities Finance for its new business, Nearwater Capital Markets Europe (NCME).
NCME is seeking authorisation as a Class 2 MiFID Firm, to deal on own account. NCME’s entrance to the inter-dealer market is intended to provide alternatives for the financing of security-based swaps (SBS) on European securities. The Firm’s counterparties will be eligible counterparties for the purposes of the MiFID Regulations (Eligible Counterparties) and will generally consist of highly rated counterparties such as G-SIBs or their affiliates / subsidiaries.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer of NCME in Dublin in the execution of your day-to-day PCF responsibilities, you will collaborate with other control groups (Operations, Risk, Finance, Compliance) to mitigate financial risks within the context of the Firm’s strategic and financial objectives.
Role / Job Description:
The Head of Trading will oversee all trading activities for the local businesses, ensuring the effective position and risk management. This role requires a strategic thinker with extensive experience in trading, risk management, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will develop and implement trading strategies and ensure adherence to all relevant regulations.
* Manage trades from inception to maturity, including pre-trade analysis, execution and settlement.
* Build and develop trading counterparty relationships.
* Assess and manage the risk associated with trading activities and develop risk mitigation strategies. Collaborate with the Chief Risk Officer and risk management team to ensure compliance with internal risk limits.
* Oversee the positions held by the trading desk and analyze market trends and liquidity.
* Ensure all trading activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
* Help develop and maintain policies and procedures compliant with financial and capital regulatory requirements.
* Monitor and analyse trading performance, making adjustments as necessary to achieve trading objectives.
* Communicate trading performance and strategies to senior management and other stakeholders.
* Foster a positive culture of risk management by working proactively with the business and control groups to ensure that best practices and systems are in place to facilitate conformance with the regulatory requirements in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and internal policy at both the business and legal entity levels.
Skills and Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, or a related field; advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, CFA) are preferred.
* Minimum of 10 years of experience in trading or financial analysis, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
* Experience with a variety of financing structures (delta one, swap, repo, stock loan, TRS, etc.)
* Strong analytical skills; strategic thinking; excellent communication and leadership abilities; and proficiency in trading platforms and financial software.
* Strong understanding of securities finance markets, securitised products, and derivatives.
* Experience with trading platforms such as Bloomberg, Enfusion, Murex, Wematch, or Calypso.
* Has worked in a similar role at an SEC, CFTC, FCA, CBI or similarly regulated firm.
* Background working in a Swap Dealer would be a major plus.
