Purpose:
Scientific data and information are core assets of Lilly. Providing balanced, objective, and accurate information to the scientific community, health care professionals, payers, and patients in a consistent and timely fashion across the entire drug development lifecycle is fundamental to Lilly.
The purpose of the Associate, GSC Publication Planning role is to manage the implementation of Publication plan(s).
The Associate is responsible for managing and tracking publication plans and tactics across one or more assets. Publications include abstract presentations for scientific meetings, peer-reviewed journal articles, review articles, and other publication related deliverables. The Associate serves as a point person for all units within Lilly that contribute to, or are affected by, publication development. Additionally, the Associate is responsible for hosting publication team meetings, providing status updates to the team and leadership, and managing other materials to meet the publication teams’ needs, ensuring that deadlines for publication submission are met and change control and project budget(s) are monitored/managed.
Primary Responsibilities:

Publication Plan Management
* Provides input on Publication strategy and tactics
* Manages and executes publication plan tactics based upon strategy
* Manages implementation for one large or multiple smaller publication plans
* Develops and maintains publications metrics/dashboard for the asset(s). Seeks business partner feedback updates as applicable.
* Maintains budgets for projects
* Organizes content for publication strategy and operational meetings, including change controls, escalations and project updates.
* Contributes content for publication Plan–related slide decks detailing strategy, progress and metrics
* Collaborates with Publication Specialist to ensure publication tracking tools are up to date with accurate information
* Interacts with internal and external authors and publication vendors about timelines and process
* Ensures disclosures are aligned to appropriate venues and methods of disclosing study results in a manner that is compliant with PhRMA and ICMJE guidelines as well as Lilly policy
* Identifies, evaluates and resolves conflict. Elevates those that require input from senior management
* Ensures that publications achieve the balance between business needs, scientific integrity, and compliance with publication guidelines
Publication Deliverable Oversight
* Collaborates with writers to survey and gather supporting literature, analyze tables and listings, and formulate graphics to represent data appropriately
* Appraises and critically evaluates scientific literature and data
* May review and edit publications
* Coordinates scientific congress deliverables and ensures consistency within and across assets
* Functions as point of contact for Lilly disclosures at scientific congresses
* Ensures SOPs are well understood across the team and affiliate(s), leading and providing clarification on local implementation
Subject Matter Expert
* Functions as the Publications communication point for potential process improvements
* Responsible for capturing and tracking new ideas that may lead to improvements in process
* Functions as the Subject Matter Expert on industry guidelines pertaining to data dissemination (e.g., CONSORT, ICMJE, GPPs) and interactions with health care providers (e.g. PhRMA Code, AdvaMed guidelines)
* Shares learning and consistency within their therapy area and across therapies.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in scientific, health, communications, or technology related field
* Or, Bachelor’s degree in any field with at least two years of clinical development experience
* 1 year experience in project management with demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage timelines, and provide succinct progress updates to teams and leadership
Other Information/Additional Preferences:
* Knowledge of scientific principles, research design, data interpretation, manuscript composition, and Good Publication Practices
* Previous project leadership
* Excellent communication (written and verbal)
* Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and re-evaluating priorities as appropriate
* Good organizational, project management, business, and communication skills
* Familiarity with Good Publication Practices, ICMJE requirements, and PhRMA guidelines
* Experience managing project budgets
* Ability to travel: Up to 20%
