Job Purpose
A proactive and experienced Health and Safety Manager is needed to oversee HSE compliance across construction sites. The successful candidate will ensure projects meet legal and company safety standards while fostering a culture of safety within the business.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety Compliance
1. Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies in line with HSE legislation and industry best practices.
2. Ensure compliance with Irish health and safety laws, including risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
3. Conduct regular site inspections and audits, addressing hazards and corrective actions.
4. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, implementing preventative measures.
Training & Development
1. Deliver health and safety training and toolbox talks for site workers and management.
2. Ensure employees and subcontractors understand their health and safety responsibilities.
3. Stay current with HSE legislation and advise management on necessary changes.
Risk Management & Reporting
1. Conduct and update risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and safe systems of work.
2. Ensure safety documentation is accurate and up to date.
3. Provide detailed safety reports to senior management, advising on best practices and improvements.
Site Engagement & Safety Culture
1. Promote a positive safety culture, encouraging employee engagement in health and safety.
2. Collaborate with site managers, project managers, and contractors to maintain a safe working environment.
3. Implement initiatives to reduce accidents and occupational health risks.
Qualifications, Key Skills & Competencies
1. NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety.
2. Minimum 5 years' experience in a construction-based health and safety role.
3. Strong knowledge of HSE guidelines and Irish legislation.
4. Experience in conducting risk assessments, site inspections, and accident investigations.
5. Excellent communication skills and the ability to train staff effectively.
6. Proficient in Microsoft Office and health and safety reporting software.
7. Full driving licence and willingness to travel to various sites.
