Project Delivery Network Designer (Engineering Officer)
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing safe network systems within their discipline. The designs will be used by ESB Networks staff and/or contractors to carry out work safely on the Electricity Network.
The Network Designer will work closely with the design team, follow schedules set down by their design manager, and manage their own design workload. They will also liaise with Local Authorities, landowners, and other parties to obtain routes for underground cables and overhead lines in accordance with legislation and ESB policies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Preparing high-quality designs; calculating costs; preparing capital approvals, work authorisations, preparing protection settings, design drawings;
2. Measuring design clearances, for 38kV, MV, and LV networks, including use of all associated IT systems;
3. Preparation of Scopes of work, costing templates, and safety documentation;
4. Recording and updating the Distribution Network on the relevant IT systems;
5. Maintaining commercial focus by preparing least cost technically acceptable designs;
6. Compliance with legislation and ESB Policy in relation to obtaining consent from landowners including issuing wayleaves;
7. Use of GPS for Route surveying, computer profiling, computer aided line design, mast/pole pegging;
8. Processing Site Acquisition and Planning Permission applications as required;
9. Arranging cable easements and forestry easements and arranging road opening and closure licences where required;
10. Applying for and processing Road Opening Licences;
11. Manage own design workload as agreed with the relevant Design Manager;
12. Delivering an excellent customer service in line with ESB Networks Customer Charter;
