Experienced Underwriter wanted for new specialised Underwriting Role-Fully Remote
Abrivia are currently recruiting for an Experienced Underwriter to join our client, an International Insurance Group, focusing on the construction industry. This role will report directly into the Underwriting Director in the UK and will be responsible for managing a book of business for ROI.
This role is fully remote and is suited to a Technical Underwriter who is comfortable working remotely and being part of a virtual team. Our client has a dedicated Sales Team who are responsible for winning new business and this role will solely focus on Underwriting.

Your Role:
1. Assess applications for insurance coverage.
2. Evaluate risk factors including construction methods, client profiles, and background information.
3. Use the Insurers Binding Agreement to calculate appropriate insurance premiums.
4. Apply terms and conditions to quotations and final documentation.
5. Collaborate with Technical Underwriting to underwrite latent defects risks.
6. Handle risks for individual residential properties and large, mixed-use properties with reinstatement values up to €20,000,000 for any single continuous structure.
7. Process new quotation enquiries and mid-term adjustments.
8. Liaise effectively with Brokers, Direct, and Technical Inspection Surveyors throughout the underwriting process.
9. Ensure all required information is obtained and accurately recorded in an advanced in-house IT system.
10. Adhere to relevant regulations and maintain a thorough understanding of underwriting principles and the general insurance market.
11. Refer risks above €20,000,000 to Senior Management and present them to the Insurer.
12. Issue final insurance certification upon practical completion of projects.
13. Ensure the relevant policy wording is included in the final documentation.
Your Skills:
14. Solid understanding of underwriting principles and the general insurance market.
15. Knowledge of relevant regulations and proven experience in underwriting, customer service, and risk analysis.
16. Strong numerical and verbal reasoning skills.
17. Excellent organisational and prioritisation abilities.
18. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
19. Minimum of three years of experience in underwriting in some capacity.
20. Preferably hands-on experience in latent defects cover or financial underwriting.
21. Ability to work remotely.
