Job Title: Assistant Accountant
We are excited to offer an opportunity for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our finance team on a full-time, permanent basis.
What You'll Do:
* Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure accuracy at all times.
* Prepare and submit VAT returns within the specified deadlines.
* Process supplier invoices, compile monthly supplier payment runs, reconcile supplier statements, and perform other related tasks.
* Allocate invoices to appropriate cost centre to ensure transparency and accountability.
* Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations to identify any discrepancies or anomalies.
* Analyse and prepare employee expense reports to facilitate effective budgeting and forecasting.
* Generate and compile monthly KPIs to support data-driven decision-making.
* Prepare and post journals, including accruals and prepayments, in accordance with accounting principles.
* Ensure timely completion of tasks at the end of each month to meet business needs.
* Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts to provide valuable insights into financial performance.
* Perform stock reconciliations and assist with stock control and reporting to maintain accurate inventory levels.
Requirements:
* Part-qualified (IATI, CIMA, ACCA, ACA) with strong accounting knowledge and skills.
* Previous experience in preparing management accounts, stock reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations is highly desirable.
* Strong IT skills, with advanced experience in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and advanced formulas).
* Experience using accounting software/packages to streamline financial processes.
* Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and results-driven individual who can work effectively in a team environment.
* Strong critical thinking, investigative, and analytical skills to identify areas for improvement.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with staff at all levels.
* Proactive, flexible, and adaptable in meeting the needs of the business.
