Job Description
Based at Dublin Airport, the role of Field Service Engineer II requires the individual to be team-oriented and flexible, actively seeking to share information and assist their peers.
The candidate must demonstrate strong electronic repair troubleshooting methodology and maintain at least a Level 3 Engineering qualification. The ability to read and follow electrical/mechanical schematics is essential to assist in isolating faults to root cause components/assemblies. The candidate should be cross-trained on products serviced in the field and display some proficiency in servicing both the Trace and X-Ray product lines. An eagerness to work on special projects, some of high visibility, and/or in direct support of applicable project leads is required. The candidate should look for common-mode problem occurrences and seek to resolve them, both independently and with the aid of others. A working knowledge of business PC applications (MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint) is needed to provide clear, concise information summaries as necessary.
The responsibilities include troubleshooting, servicing, installing (deploying), and repairing both Trace and X-Ray equipment at customer sites. The candidate will maintain a field service log and filing system to properly initiate, organize, and maintain all field service and job files until work is completed. When not traveling, the individual will provide assistance to the Technical Support staff, demonstrating initiative and dedication through the positive use of downtime and an overall willingness and eagerness to consistently exceed customer and company requirements. Conducting follow-up calls with customers to ensure satisfaction with work is also part of the role.
Duties:
1. Responsible for meeting daily service repair needs and driving customer satisfaction.
2. Installs, repairs, and maintains equipment in the field; provides customer training as required.
3. Documents all inspections, maintenance, and repair work and submits paperwork in a timely manner.
4. Orders, installs, and returns parts and manages repair parts cycle time.
5. Reviews all logs for open issues and prepares formal reports to customers as necessary.
6. Ensures that tools and test equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
7. Assesses product/equipment performance based on field support data; recommends modifications or improvements.
8. Seeks to provide technical support to customers and other service professionals as required.
9. May participate in site surveys, pilot program service activities, attend meetings, champion special projects, and prepare exclusive reports.
10. Possesses a solid level of technical knowledge on the company’s Trace and X-Ray technologies.
11. Establishes and maintains a close relationship with senior level FSEs and Product Managers to support customer needs and remain aware of current technical trends.
12. Exercises every available measure to control and minimize costs.
13. Complies with and ensures department compliance with Company health, safety, and environmental policies.
14. Other duties as required.
Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Associate’s Degree or Related Trade Certification Level 3 Engineering qualification (electrical, electronic, mechanical).
2. Equivalence achieved through comparative work and life experience is acceptable (work experience in a related electrical or mechanical field service role).
3. Computer literacy; competency in use of all programs within MS Office Suite and aptitude for learning specialized software programs.
4. Have your own transport to allow you to get to Dublin Airport.
5. Some experience directly involved in troubleshooting and field repair of electrical and electronic systems and equipment.
6. Excellent communication skills and a strong orientation for customer focus and teamwork. Must always be responsive to all customer issues.
7. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to multitask several projects at once.
8. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to handle stressful situations.
9. Self-motivated, reliable, and accountable individual.
10. Excellent telephone skills.
11. An element of manual handling will be required.
