Manufacturing Process Engineer
Summary
The Project Process Engineer will be based in Ballina and will primarily serve Manufacturing Operations as its main customer. The position involves close collaboration with Global Engineering, New Product Development, Research and Development, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain.
This role focuses on leading and coordinating project engineering activities to further develop new and existing manufacturing capacities. Leveraging insights from existing manufacturing technologies, the engineer will contribute to the development of new technologies aimed at achieving higher output systems.
The role also includes mentoring junior project engineers, providing project guidance, and overseeing overall process development. This involves liaising with technology partners to achieve optimal outcomes.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure safety compliance for production equipment within the technology group’s remit.
2. Support and close out safety risk assessments and associated actions in a timely manner.
3. Collaborate with maintenance and manufacturing teams to provide technical and engineering support for process, quality, or equipment failures.
4. Work with maintenance and manufacturing teams to identify and implement process and product improvements on key production equipment.
5. Quantify improvements through OEE gains and/or waste reductions.
6. Support the qualification of new products and processes to ensure compliance with quality standards.
7. Write technical reports and engineering protocols.
8. Review machine performance data daily, focusing on OEE metrics (Availability, Performance, Waste).
9. Use performance data to drive improvements and meet plant OEE and waste reduction targets.
10. Deliver improvement projects on time and within budget.
11. Monitor project progress, anticipate potential issues, and develop proactive solutions.
12. Use clear metrics to report progress to key stakeholders.
Qualifications
* Primary Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Required Experience:
* 3+ years of post-qualification experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, including experience with the development and troubleshooting of highly automated production equipment.
* Proven Project Management experience.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and workloads in a fast-paced, 24/7 production environment.
* Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with knowledge of process problem-solving tools.
* Proficient understanding of PLC systems.
* Advanced knowledge of pneumatic systems.
* Familiarity with production environment KPIs (OEE, Waste, etc.).
* 2D/3D CAD skills.
* Occupational Health & Safety expertise.
