Veterinary Nurse - Gorey Veterinary Hospital
Are you a dedicated Registered Veterinary Nurse who is passionate about delivering gold-standard care and building strong, lasting relationships with clients? At The Veterinary Hospital in Gorey, we are committed to providing exceptional service to our loyal client base and are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate RVN to join our friendly and supportive team. If you're seeking a role where you can make a real difference in a welcoming and professional environment, we would love to hear from you.
The Veterinary Hospital at Gorey is a busy and growing practice, dedicated to providing high-quality veterinary care. As a mixed practice, we primarily focus on small animals while also handling some farm work and a small number of equine cases. Our well-equipped facility includes a prep room, surgery, cat and dog kennels, two consultation rooms, a dispensary, and an X-ray room, which we are continually expanding and developing to offer the best possible service.
Our nursing team plays a crucial role in the day-to-day running of the practice, covering a wide range of responsibilities. From administrative duties such as ordering supplies, managing dispensary stock, client care, billing, and updating patient files, to hands-on clinical tasks including taking and running blood tests, X-rays, monitoring anaesthesia and patient recovery, urinalysis, and cytology. Our nurses also run dedicated consultations, covering Librela, Cytopoint, Solensia, Cartrophen visits, nutrition and weight clinics, post-operative check-ups, stitch removal, and second vaccinations. With room for growth and development, we encourage nurses to explore their areas of interest and expand their skill sets.
Surgical procedures at our practice are largely routine, including spays, neuters, soft tissue surgeries, and large animal C-sections, with some orthopaedic cases. For more complex procedures, we have referral options available. With such a diverse caseload and a team of experienced colleagues to support you, this is an excellent environment for developing your skills and pursuing advanced qualifications.
A Supportive Team That Encourages Growth
Our team currently consists of five veterinary surgeons, one veterinary nurse, and five dedicated support staff. As the hospital continues to expand, we are actively recruiting additional veterinary surgeons and RVNs to meet the growing demand. Our experienced team includes certificate holders in Dairy Herd Health and Theriogenology, and we strongly encourage further professional development, offering full support for those interested in obtaining additional qualifications.
Beyond our clinical work, we are passionate about giving back to the local community and regularly collaborate with organizations such as NWSPCA and Seal Rescue Ireland to help animals in need.
We are also open to considering a Student Veterinary Nurse who is set to qualify this year for this position.
