Job Summary
This is a permanent, full-time position for a Landfill Technician at our depot in Garvagh. The role involves operating heavy plant equipment, disposing of non-combustible/non-recyclable waste materials, and ensuring compliance with statutory and company obligations.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate heavy plant equipment such as diggers, dozers, compactors, excavators, and dump trucks to facilitate day-to-day operations at the landfill site.
* Dispose of non-combustible/non-recyclable waste materials at the landfill site.
* Spread and compact layers of waste, identifying hazardous materials or substances excluded from deposit at the landfill site.
* Perform routine checks on machines to ensure they are in proper working order and report any issues to the Landfill Manager.
* Provide minimal maintenance of various landfill equipment/machines where applicable.
* Ensure compliance with statutory and company obligations, health and safety standards are maintained at all times.
Requirements
* A valid license/certificate and at least 2 years' experience of operating one of the following machines: digger, dozer, Bomag compactor, excavator, or dump truck.
* Confident operating machinery on steep flanks.
* Good organisational skills.
* Good communication skills - both written and verbal.
* Basis IT Skills- a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word.
* Ability to work well on own initiative.

* Willing to work in all weather conditions.
