RISK MANAGER
My client, a Galway City based financial service organisation, are seeking a proficient Risk Manager to manage our risk function, playing a crucial role in safeguarding the financial well-being of the firm. This role is a permanent, full-time position based in Galway reporting directly to the Managing Director, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures and driving effective risk management strategies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
·Develop and maintain appropriate risk frameworks for a retail credit firm, regulated by the CBI, including provision of reporting to the firm’s senior management team, BOD and Group.
·Represent the firm at Group Risk Meetings and provide a summary of top risks for our Firm, including any updates on actions for risk issues.
·Advising the Managing Director and BOD on any risk matter.
·Coordinate risk evaluation process to ensure consistency across the risk management approach of the Firm.
·Performance of risk assessments and risk evaluation.
·Plan and execute Scenario Analysis activities across the firm as directed by Group Risk.
·Develop and maintain the firm’s Operational Resilience Framework, Incident Management Strategy, Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Plan, and Individual Accountability Framework.
·Deliver risk training for new joiners.
·Validate operational risk data collected by business units.
·Perform independent testing and validation of the Internal Control Framework.
REQUIREMENTS:
·An Operational Risk professional, with experience handling risk issues within a regulated environment.
·Experience in partnering business units / areas to complete RCSA’s.
·Experience in risk management with knowledge of core risk management principles (e.g. three lines of defence model);
·Ability to work standalone to set up a risk function. Our firm’s risk function currently forms part of our compliance function. As our firm grows, personality fit is key as well as someone who is happy to be hands-on and strategic.
·Ability to summarize risk findings, internal controls evaluation, and prepare reports and recommendations that effectively communicate gaps, trends and relevant information to a senior/executive level audience;
·Comprehensive knowledge of Irish financial legislation, regulations and regulatory trends;
·May have potential to hold a PCF-14, qualification within a 12–18-month timeframe.
