Preconstruction Building Services Engineer - Data Centres
Job Summary: The Preconstruction Building Services Engineer will support the business development department in evaluating new tender opportunities from a technical perspective. They will assist in the preconstruction design review and technical evaluation of data centre off site manufacture projects.
The role involves assessing tenders received from clients, identifying modularization scope that the business can price, and reviewing Revit models to identify our scope. They will also identify value engineering options that can be offered to clients in support of bids.
The successful candidate will support the preparation of proposal documents from a technical perspective, ensuring compliance with specifications and industry regulations. As tenders progress towards contract award, they will manage all technical aspects of client enquiries, including attending tender bid defense meetings as technical lead.
Responsibilities:
* Evaluate tender drawings, models, specifications, and schedules.
* Identify inconsistencies within tender documentation from a technical perspective.
* Manage the RFI process during pre- and post-tender stages of new projects.
* Assess documentation to identify modularisation opportunities within projects.
* Analyse equipment specifications and engage with vendors to ensure compliance with project scope.
* Identify value engineering opportunities to make submissions more competitive.
* Coordinate with in-house teams to mark up schematics and project layouts.
* Prepare detailed handover documentation for execution teams.
* Support design teams understand scope of works and assist in setting out schedules of deliverables.
* Support early stages of projects to comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
* Collaborate with clients, suppliers, sub-contractors, and other relevant authorities.
* Maintain updates on industry advancements in building services technology, codes, and regulations.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standards.
* Liaise with in-house teams to coordinate model walk through videos.
Essential Criteria:
* Third level education in Mechanical Engineering.
* Minimum 3-5 years' experience within building services or similar industries.
* Excellent knowledge of reading mechanical schematics and building layouts.
* Experience with Revit.
* Understanding of multi-disciplinary design processes and design coordination.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Packages (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Teams).
