Your primary function will be to ensure that the network is reliable, robust and can scale to meet the challenges that serving over a billion users presents. Automation and continuous improvement are the keys to meeting our demands; you will be responsible for developing and deploying network designs, automation systems and network performance improvements into our production network.
Responsibilities:
1. Build experience with Backbone, Data Center, and Network Infrastructure Engineering teams through rotational experiences during your first year.
2. Build, manage and maintain multi-vendor, multi-protocol data center and backbone networks.
3. Design and deploy new network architectures.
4. Develop automated methods to mitigate and remediate network events.
5. Analyze data to diagnose and identify root causes to network issues.
6. Be an active participant in deep technical discussions.
7. Develop and maintain consistency within the network infrastructure.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
2. 2+ years of experience in network engineering or network-centric software development.
3. Experience with computer networks.
4. Experience with UNIX, TCP/IP, network fundamentals, or similar.
5. Experience coding in at least one language (Python/Golang/Rust/C++ are all in use).
6. Experience learning new concepts around network design and management.
7. Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Knowledge of Switching and Routing concepts and implementation.
2. Knowledge of routing protocols BGP, OSPF and ISIS.
3. Knowledge of tunneling protocols MPLS, GRE, IPnIP.
