To lead, guide and supervise radiographers and other staff, and to successfully implement MRI safety procedures, with effective utilisation of all resources. Work closely with MRI CSRs, MR Radiographers, and Medical Physics in developing, documenting, and introducing safe working procedures for the MR environment. Ensuring that proper policies and procedures for day-today MR safety are fully implemented. Ensuring that adequate written safety policies, protocols, procedures, and guidelines are developed and maintained. Ensuring that medical, nursing, and all other relevant staff groups (including ancillary workers) who may be exposed to the MR environment are educated appropriately on a regular basis as to the safety requirements and updated as necessary Maintaining records of the personnel who have been educated appropriately as to the safety requirements. Be accountable for the quality of the service provided including customer service and technical aspects. Maintain an up to date knowledge of clinical technical and radiographic developments in relation to MRI and promote awareness of new developments Ensure that best practices are implemented and maintained. Contribute to the preparation of plans for the service monitor and report on their implementation. Implement and maintain accurate information systems for clinical data in accordance with departmental standards. Implement and maintain a comprehensive quality assurance programme in areas within the MRI department. Implement and maintain accurate records for patient examinations. Order and maintain appropriate stock levels and liaise with supplies/materials department, ie. Contrast,etc. Appropriately schedule urgent patient examinations and liaise with multidisciplinary teams within the hospital and also within other hospitals as required Ensure all staff entering or working in the rooms in the department have been given appropriate training and guidelines in MRI Safety. Advise on equipment selection, purchase, replacement or upgrading. Maintain accurate record of equipment service, maintenance, malfunction, downtime and performance as required and co-ordinate preventative maintenance schedules in accordance with clinical demands. Participate in Clinical Audits as relevant to the post. Promote and maintain a safe environment for staff and patients. Participate in MR safety committee. Assist in the development of Risk Management and Health and Safety strategies in association with appropriate personnel. Liaise with the Head of Radiology Operations (or designate) on the training of staff. Develop and maintain a training and education function in MRI as may be required in relation to staff. To supervise and assess all training Liaise with the Head of Radiology Operations on the rotation of staff through MRI to ensure an adequate number of trained staff is available. Maintain throughout the Hospital an awareness of the primacy of the patient in relation to all Hospital activities. Assist in leading the professional organization and management of the service with regard to the MRI department and have an awareness of the resources available within the Department. Support the Head of Radiology Operations (or designate), in the leadership of a skilled team within the Radiology Department in order to create and promote a safe healthy working environment. Actively participate in continuing education and research activities consistent with the position. Participate as required by the Head of Radiology Operations in other duties within the radiology Person Specification Qualifications BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography. Qualification must be recognised and validated by CORU Experience Minimum of 6 years working in MRI and a post graduate course in MRI Additional MRI safety course is desirable Job Specific Competencies and Knowledge Demonstrate ability to manage clinical and non-clinical situations.
