How You’ll Make an Impact:
SiriusXM is rapidly expanding its services to drive further engagement of consumers via smartphones, tablets, PCs, and connected devices, while continuing to grow its adoption in connected cars. This role is a senior leadership position within the Client Software Engineering team and will serve as the site lead for SiriusXM’s growing Client Software Engineering team in Ireland. The Director of Client Software Engineering will work closely with counterparts in the United States and will be responsible for delivering SiriusXM and Pandora applications across their device ecosystem. This position will report to the VP of Client Software Engineering.
What You’ll Do:
* Own the application development technologies and toolchains used to power SiriusXM and Pandora applications.
* Empower Developers: Boost developer autonomy, efficiency, and ability to contribute to parallelized work across repos, applications, or libraries. Foster a culture of working smarter, not harder.
* Ensure a Great User Experience: Strive for a smooth, efficient, and delightful end-user experience, proactively preventing errors, degradations, and performance issues.
* Lead and grow an efficient, high-performing, and diverse software development organization with a culture of agile development focused on delivering best-in-class media entertainment experiences.
* Foster an inclusive culture for all team members.
* Ensure high consumer satisfaction through the development and operation of highly performant and reliable web technologies on large-scale websites.
* Attract and retain high-caliber Software Engineering talent to deliver on SiriusXM’s Product Roadmap through high-performance, on-time, and on-budget development programs.
* Collaborate with engineering leaders to ensure best practices are continuously developed and enforced.
* Work closely with operations and project management partners to ensure the SDLC is adhered to and consistently improved.

What You’ll Need:
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar field, or equivalent experience.
* 10+ years of software engineering experience.
* 5+ years of experience leading software engineering teams in a technical organization.
* Proven track record of delivering and maintaining software at scale to millions of active users.
* Experience leading teams that build client applications at scale.
* Proven ability to recruit and retain world-class engineers.
* Excellent managerial skills and interpersonal skills; able to effectively communicate and collaborate with all areas of engineering and work with staff at all levels.
* Strong understanding of software processes, lifecycle methodology, configuration management, release management, and system verification/testing.
* Technical expertise in:
o iOS, Android, and/or web-based client application development.
o Troubleshooting caching infrastructure and CDN issues from the client-side perspective.
o Client-based audio and video advertising standards.
o Media security (encryption, DRM, route protection, etc.).
o Software tools: GitHub, Jenkins, Jira.
o A strong focus on software performance and developer excellence.
* Interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
* Build & release best practices.
* Pragmatic approach to weighing engineering trade-offs versus business needs.
* A sense of accountability and extreme ownership that persists after systems are deployed to production.
